I don't know how ell i'll be able to help, but here we go:
You could
Go to a corporate store and socially engineer an attractive young associate into checking th ESN for you
Keep calling customer service and climbing through the ranks until they finally check for you
Tell them that this specific phone is the deciding factor to wether or not you start service with them
Tell them that, as an open network(which i assume they are) that they are obligated to let you know wether or not this device can be used
always ask for the manager
Some phone companies automatically generate an account when you have a credit check run through them, so that may be a viable way to go. I know for a fact it works on sprint. Just make sure to get the ACCT # if one is created
