Question The touch screen doesn't respond

Hi, I have a problem with my HTC Touch Diamond. All of a sudden the display is gone though I can receive incoming calls. I did visit the authorized HTC custom service center and the technician there, after examining my phone gave a report that the Main board has some how stopped functioning and need to be replaced which would cost me almost the phone cost. I am alarmed and am in a fix as shuch what to do next.

I would highly appreciate if some one has a solution for this without replacing the board.

Thanks much for your help.

Re: The touch screen doesn't respond

Your Diamond is under one year old and should be covered under the warranty by HTC for manufacturing defects.
As long as the issue was NOT caused by abuse, etc. I don't see why HTC does not offer to repair it.
Who is your carrier?

They became available in September/October 2008, at least here in the USA.
How did you get yours so early?
Are you overseas?

Re: The touch screen doesn't respond

What is APAC?
I posted a link to a site at the end of this post that you may be interested in.
They sell Digtizers and Touch screens for the HTC Diamond.
There are other sites that sell both also.
I have read that it is recommended to change both the Touch Screen and the Digitizer at the same time.
Try to get the parts OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) if available, which is HTC although they may be more expensive and I don't know if better. You would have to do some investigation regarding that.
There are also sites that offer to sell and install the parts for you for a reasonable price.
Beware of who you buy from and let
install.

Here's that link >

If yes, pls. let me know the procedure for the same.

Thanks,

Re: The touch screen doesn't respond

Yes, you can but you will probably need certain tools like specific screw drivers. I don't know the procedure.
I would have to research it. I could try to look it up alittle later.
You should make sure that your issue is caused by a faulty touch screen and/or digitizer and not wiring, parts, connections, etc. before you purchase the parts.

Here you go:

http://www.formymobile.co.uk/htcdiamonddisassembly.php

Here's another link:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413940

Take a look at this blog.
While there are online disassembly instructions for the Diamond, not many are specific about the LCD Screen and Digitizer. >>

http://blog.fuelip.com/wordpress/?p=5

Appears to involve soldering, etc.
Not as simple as just plug & play.

It appears that you can purchase the LCD & Digitizer preassembled as one unit to avoid alot of extra work and make replacement much easier.
