Diamond runs without battery while plugged in

I'm not sure if this has any relevance, but I figured I would leave it for those of you who are smarter than me to decide. But anyways, I recently flashed to a Rom and had a fairly common problem where the phone would get stuck on the boot screen (where it says diamond and has all the red letters and numbers). I figured it was no big deal so i pulled the battery and was about to put it into boot loader mode. The only thing is that I still had it plugged into the USB on my computer, and it stayed on. Up until this point I was always led to believe it was a hardware issue that caused the phone to shut off when the battery was pulled, even when plugged in. If it is in fact the software that causes this, then couldn't there be a way to fix it to where it could be plugged in and running without the battery? this would be good for programs like WMwifirouter that tend to cause the diamond to heat up more than usual.

Any time you have your device plugged into your ac adaptor or your computer your battery will be charging and if you use your phone/device in any way you are getting power from the adaptor or your computer.
So, yes you could probably remove the battery and the device might still function. I say might because some devices could do different things because of different roms.

I have used both the Diamond and the Vogue, and many different ROMs and have never had it where I could remove the battery and still have it run. The fact that it stayed on while locked in the boot screen (before WM was actually running on it) leads me to believe that it has something to do with WM rather than the hardware. which I was lead to believe was the case in an older thread (possibly on a different site, it was a while ago that i read up on it).

Cant say for sure, but I think my Diamond has always done that.
