Also re-install the driver updates while you're re-install the sync prog. Should clear it right up.

Re: Diamond doesn't connect to PC

3 pages and nobody has suggested trying another USB cable? It's entirely possible that the wire carrying power is fine (thus allowing to charge), but one of the wires that carries data is cut. If you've ever spliced any of these cheap USB cables, you'd realize how easy it is for them to develop this issue. If your computer is not recognizing it at all, then you have a problem that is deeper than ActiveSync, so I would first try another USB cable and try different ports on your computer.

Re: Diamond doesn't connect to PC

it's happened to my diamond as well.. it works when connected via disk drive and bootloader. but i can no longer use activeysnc. i've gotten kinda used to it being that it's been like 5 months. i would have exchanged it already, but i have invisishield on it and do not want to purchase or try putting that thing on again.

Re: Diamond doesn't connect to PC

I just exchanged one of my Diamonds for this reason. Obviously I tried everything, but sometimes it really is the phone, not the user!

I've heard that invisishield will send you a new one if you have to send in/replace your phone for free. Unconfirmed, but worth looking into.

Sounds like a software issue on your computer. If you're using XP, uninstall/reinstall activesync, for Vista do the same with Windows Mobile Device Center.

Re: Diamond doesn't connect to PC

I have the same problem, I think mine is due to aftermarket car charger - left it plugged in and started up the car. Next thing you know now PC connection at all, but the phone does charge fine.

Need to get it replaced but been busy.
