I would suggest reading the thread on how to unlock/relock etc. Very well explained and will prevent you from brickin up the phone. Read everything! No need to rush

Okay, I will read more about this. I've read a lot already, and haven't seen in the guides anything yet about the need for unlocking_and_hardspl the phone - so I got a bit surprised, and thought maybe unlocking and hardspl is the same...will do some more reading

EDIT: I've read some, and before I go further, I got one question:
The unlocking issue, is that only for CDMA Diamond phones? 'Cause I got a GSM Diamond

Anyway, from what I can see this is a US forum, which deals with the CDMA phones. Mine is a GSM, and the custom ROM upgrading method differs from CDMA... I should probably look, and ask at the XDA forums...

Yep you want to check over there for GSM roms, lots of good stuff there, and welcome here.
