i would first try a hard reset on your phone then reinstall windows mobile device center.

I was having the same issues, remove activesync from your cpu and reinstall it.
Mine worked just fine after that, and of course it happens right when i find this thread.

LMAO, I've been searching for HOURS trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with my Diamond then remembered this site. This thread was on the first page (thanks to DAADAA187 and horndoctor) and what B4U2 posted SOLVED MY PROBLEM...
try this go to Start\Settings\Connections\USBtoPC uncheck Enable faster data Synchronization. Thanks B4U2, much obliged! I'm not a drinker, but I owe you a beer! In the meantime I hit the "thanks" button!
