Weather "More" URL

Hey guys,

Searched here and over at XDA but I haven't found anything so far (I think my search terms are a bit too non-unique).

I was wondering if there is a method to modify the URL which opens after clicking/tapping the "More" button inside TF3D's weather tab.

Thanks,
-Mike

I could be wrong, but I think it's here: HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/Weather.ServerURLOverride

Just in case you're not familiar, that's the path in the registry. Use a registry editor to open up your registry and edit that path. Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I can explain further if required.

Re: Weather "More" URL

Thanks for the reply the7thson, I've looked into the key further.

It turns out my key is set to "http://weather.not2advanced.com/htcweather/forecastdata.php?ac=XDADevs&locCode=525ls&version= 1&device=innovation" which looks to be a blank XML template page. Since my "More" button opens up an accuweather.com URL I suspect that the key exists elsewhere for the "More" button or the URL is hardcoded into the app somewhere.

Thanks,
-Mike

Re: Weather "More" URL

Grepping my backup files on my linux box, looks like

17ae3d30_manila

is the magic file
Code:
<p align="center"><a href="http://wap.accuweather.com/?p=wapc3&ad=htcwx">^M
Provided by AccuWeather.com</a></p>^M
<p align="center"><a href="http://wap.accuweather.com/?p=wapc3&ad=htcwx">^M
<img border="0" src="../Images/html/AWC-Logo.jpg" width="270" height="23"></a></p>^M
<p align="center">&nbsp;</p>^M
<p align="center"><a href="http://wap.accuweather.com/?p=wapc3&ad=htcwx">More...</a></p>
Try changing that a href line. Make a backup first, in case you get it wrong!

Yep, schettj's got it

btw Has anyone worked out a better place to get weather details? Accuweather sucks pretty hard in general and furthermore, the More link takes you to a generic page instead of one with details about your city.

Re: Weather "More" URL

Hey guys,

Actually the file schettj referenced didn't exist on my diamond (juicyROM 3.9). However, doing my own grep of my manila files found that the URL resided within the file:

6be2e4bd_manila

at the very bottom of the file...
Code:
    S_h_e_l_l___N_a_v_i_g_a_t_e_T_o_____(___S_h_e_l_l_L_o_c_a_t_i_o_n___O_p_e_r_a_____Z___h_t_t_p_:_/_/_w_a_p_._a_c_c_u_w_e_a_t_h_e_r_._c_o_m_/_?_p_=_w_a_p_c_3_&_a_d_=_h_t_c_w_x__
I edited the file with hex editor to change the URL to point to my webserver, moved the file onto my diamond and it's working as we speak. Currently I have it pointing to a non-existing file on my server but I'm in the process of writing a little web-app to display the hourly forecasts for my zip code. I'll post an update when I'm done.
