hands down. the bell network over sucks here, and Telus has always been the first to make major changes to the network, and were the first to support the Diamond at all! I am just another loyal Bell customer, wishing I could get the same deals with Telus!

side note, first thing to do with any Bell phone, change the home SID/NID to telus, and keep the Bell towers as lower priority. Faster service, less dropped calls, and much better coverage.
how would i go about changing those? *-) is it as simple as upgrading the radio?

you can edit that in QPST. But, you need to know, or be able to get your lock code for your phone if it isn't 000000. GetSPC will do the trick though.

From your dialer, without pressing SEND, dial ##778#
Choose Edit
Enter your lock code
Hit "View Info" in the bottom left
Select "Home SID/Home NID"
Tap and hold on each line to edit (you only need the first 2 or three)

Then, edit your SID/NID to the following

SID / NID
------------
17500/65535 - Telus Mobility East
16420/65535 - Bell Mobility
16422/65535 - Telus Mobility West

or, use this if you are in the West (different order, obviously)
16422/65535 - Telus Mobility West
16420/65535 - Bell Mobility
17500/65535 - Telus Mobility East

Save your changes, exit, and soft reset your phone. These changes will still be there even after rom upgrades. This does not require you to flash a new radio or anything fancy, but I still think the Telus radio is the best one to use in Canada.

Also, you will not incur any additional charges -- Telus and Bell have a free roaming agreement, and they both use each other's towers. All this does, is change the priority, and because there are more Telus towers in the GTA than Bell, it works out just fine.

Even though they have free roaming agreements, are you absolutely positive that it is "unlimited"? For example, in the US, Sprint and Verizon have free roaming agreements, but if you have Sprint and more than a certain % of your minutes or data are while "roaming", then they have a clause that they can cancel your account.

Both of the Sprint radio's along with the Telus got my phone so hot you almost couldn't hold it in your hand for more than 10 secs...it would just be uncomortable.

Re: Radios and Best Locations(24 Cities Listed!!!)

ok the Telus radio was horrible. tried it on EVDo and it would jump back and forth between evdo and 1x. tried it on 1x only and got only like two bars. but phone was cooler

tried the new sprint radio, and it did the same. evdo was simply horrible. would jump bacck and forth so much that my battery died in 2 hours with like 7 texts sent.

ive flashed to stock radio and rom and flashed to grooverom 3. stock radio and phone isnt running hot. but still get low bars on evdo. i need to find a radio that i can use my evdo and wont be jumpking back and forth like a maniac.

btw im in miami. gonna try verzn next... [-o<

Arizona, phx metro.... sprint 11f SUCKS

vzw 1.03 and telus 1.04 seem to work well, tellus seems to have faster data and a little bit more strength
