Back cover protection for camera?

Does anyone have issues with the plastic lens over the camera getting scratched up?

I'm on my 2nd cover cause I just noticed that my first one was all scratched up. Anybody got a way to protect it or perhaps just remove the plastic so we get better image quality and don't have to worry about scratches.

I know someone has thought about this right?

Having had Invisible Skin and similar, but did not like the tacky feel, I decided to cut strips of the clear screen protector, rounded the corners, and applied them to the covers. They laid down well and do not seem to affect photo quality. It's been a few days and they have stayed well. This way, I will just replace the screen protector every so often.

Simple idea, yes, but it's working well for me and I thought I'd share.

Could you further describe how you cut the protector? did you cut just a circle for the lens or did you cover the whole plastic area? Any issues with it peeling off?

I used a screen protector from a Treo 700-series, but any will do (so long as they are the clear, not anti-glare variety). I simply cut a rectangular strip approximating the width of the raised lens. Make sure you don't over spill the ramp/angled portion or it will likely peel. I also rounded the corners slightly to reduce the chance of catching and peeling. It's been a few days and it's working great.

Bodyguardz has a kit for the Diamond that protects the screen and the back. Part of the back covering (the only part I put on the back) fits over the black strip. It has a cutout for the lens opening, and protects the lens cover.

I got the Seidio innocase and it does not allow it to hit a surface that would cause it to scratch. It is very expensive for a case (29.95), but it is exactly what I need and it is so thin you can still use the OEM case that it comes with.

I took some BestSkinEver and put a small piece under the lens opening and a piece above it.
