Need help unlocking PW protected htc touch diamond???

Hi, I just recently got a sprint htc touch diamond from a friend who found it when on vaca. It is password protected by the previous owner. I did a hard reset on it but the pw screen still stays. How can i bypass it so the phone is unlocked to its factory settings so I can use it or sell it?
