Strange But Weird Question

Good morning everyone. I have a weird question to ask .

I have noticed with my diamond and my customers diamond that when the phone is dormant , just sitting there with the screen on the signal strength is either one or two bars if that but when the phone gets a call it jumps up to full bars . Whats the deal ? Why would it be limted till a phone call comes in

This is normal because I think that while your phone is idol, it is in EV mode. EVDO signals are lower or weaker than 1x voice connections. When you make/recieve a call the phone switches to 1x mode for the call, which is a much stronger signal than EV. Thats why you see the signal jump up because 1x signals are stronger than EV.

There are far more 1x coverage than there is EVDO. Voice travels on 1x, and then reverts to EVDO when you disconnect.
