Re: What is the easiest/free keyboard to type on

a question to the people that say "i love touchpal" and "+1 for touchpal" and "i'd rather burn my fingertips than use a keyboard other than touchpal"...

assuming you are talking about the compact qwerty version...
what do you find better when compared to the stock compact qwerty on the diamond/pro? ive tried touchpal a bunch of times, and the differences are really so small i just dont think its even worth taking up the space on my diamond.

Re: What is the easiest/free keyboard to type on

I have a question that related to the VGA resolution of the TouchPro.

When I used my Titan daily, I used the gullum KB setup & absolutely LOVED it.

I use Vito SMS-Chat & using the gullum in compact qwerty in portrait mode using T-9 I could literally fly typing a response.

When I got the TP, I noticed the stock compact qwerty KB is pretty much the same thing as the gullum KB. It didn't seem as easy to use however & I realized why last night. I opened up sms-chat on both the Titan & the TP right next to each other.

Although it is exactly the same KB, the Titan version is noticeably bigger & therefore easier to use. I assume that is because of the QVGA res of the Titan screen.

Is there a compact qwerty KB I can install in the TP that will be bigger like the Titan so it's back to what I'm used to????

i don't really use the compact qwerty. I only use the full qwerty.

don't you just have to turn off t9 and the text prediction will go away?
might sound stupid, but have you tried that?
Or are you talking about touchpal?

just becuase there is like 1cm spacing between the letters it makes it seem easier to type ??? :S

clearly stock htc keyboard is far more superior
the only thing that i don't like about it is that the diamond kind of fights the touchscreen while trying to text. For example, on mine, the p and the a don't really work that well (the edges of my screen aren't that sensitive)

Re: What is the easiest/free keyboard to type on

I haven't tried all these yet, but the SPB Keyboard has a true full screen landscape mode. I haven't seen this mode in any of these other ones. No other mode seems as easy to use yet.

It's not free, but this mode seems unique among these keyboard apps...

I agree, although the Resco Pro landscape is also excellent with the audio click & the visual pop up (I use both).

I'm going to have to admit I was wrong here. I have tried TP twice in the past & hated it both times, I just couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

Posts like this & the fact that it's been updated since I tried it convinced me to take another look at it. I installed TP & used it exclusively for two days & I finally get it, There is a bit of a learning curve (much more than any other KB), but now that I am used to all the many options I absolutely LOVE this setup.

I doubt I will ever use my TouchPro hardware KB again (I never really liked it anyway)

The reason that it is small is because Touchpal does not yet support a landscape keyboard for our devices, so it is still showing you the keyboard for portrait mode. I asked them about that and they said "it will be in the next release".

Re: What is the easiest/free keyboard to type on

Ok, I bought SPB KB a few weeks ago, it really didn't seem like anything too special but it was a hell of alot easier to type on, later I figured out you can add gestures which made it even quicker, and in the options I found a vibration feedback option snd an option to make a clicking noise at key press, really for all of you keepin this thread going, I suggest you try it.
