Re: Alltell Diamond will not get gps lock, 2phones same prob
I am having the same problem with my alltel diamond. I have yet to get one sat. Google maps says it can not connect to device. I live in billings, mt. Even though this is montana, I am sure some satellites must fly over us.

How about a way to confirm if location is on even though i show it on? Toggling location on or off gets the same response in google maps. Last edited by woods; 11-21-2008 at 10:30 AM. |

Re: Alltell Diamond will not get gps lock, 2phones same prob
I'm gonna bump this thread as my Alltel Diamond hasn't worked using the GPS for squat.
I have the 30 day free trial and I loaded it today and it wouldn't work on Conflip's 11/28 ROM. Since my quest for GPS has been never ending, it seems, I went ahead and did a hard reset and went back to stock. Downloaded the Alltel Nav freebie and installed it. Ran it and boom, GPS works! I went ahead and loaded the HTC GPS tool and google maps. Both lock on to 7-10 sats within 1-4 seconds, just like it's using aGPS and acting like my Vogue did when I enabled the aGPS using Shawdow-tech's fix and cab. This phone was manufactured in OCT-2008 and it makes me wonder if Alltel is disabling the GPS another way or has more registry stuff that disables it?? I dunno, but it's working now... Naturally I want to run a custom ROM for tethering and other features, but I really miss having GPS on the phone at the same time. I've PM'd a few peeps about this and no one has gotten back to me. Anyone have any ideas? Does Alltel have some super-secret way of locking the GPS on the newer made phones? Trust me folks, I've done everything and this is the first time this Diamond has consistently locked on to the sats.
