Re: Dropped in warter

the most obvious water damage sticker on the diamond is under the battery cover.

remove the battery cover, place the phone face down, and there's a little white sticker w/perpendicular red lines just to the right of the usb port, and below the reset button. if the white has turned pink/red and the lines aren't clearly distinguishable than the stickers have been "tripped" and they will consider the phone water damaged

Re: Dropped in warter

I would HIGHLY recommend buying a bottle of distilled water, taking the battery out and agitating the phone in that for a few minutes. Then take it out and dry it off with a hair dryer on medium/low heat. Finally fill a tupperware container with dry rice and leave the phone to sit in that for 3-4 days.

Water is not the enemy, the minerals in hard water are (if you would have been lucky enough to drop your phone in distilled water you wouldn't have a problem) . When hard water dries it leaves behind minerals that will corrode your electronics. Your phone may work right now but minerals will keep corroding it. Dipping and agitating in distilled water will absorb most of those minerals and then sealing it in tupperware with rice will suck out any remaining water.

Wrong. There are plenty of times that a phone has corrosion in the device but the litmus arent tripped.

Litmus paper is just a warning sign of liquid damage, not the final say.

To the OP, just pay the 50 dollar idiot tax and move on.

x3, if you have the option to get a new phone for $50 you'd be crazy not to.

To Sprint, if the litmus HAS turned, it's the final say - even if problem isn't water related. I had a problem with a phone under warranty. It was not exposed to water before problem started. It had NEVER been in water. Maybe it had been exposed to some steam from being on the bathroom counter during a shower a couple of times, etc. I think it was a hardware issue. Jerks wouldn't take it back. I left Sprint over it, paid to break my contract. Then, I found out about SERO and came crawling back. I'm pathetic.

No, it's not. I'm a Sprint tech. Some techs may call a phone liquid because of the litmus, and if they do, ask them to show you the corrosion or further evidence of liquid damage.

It also doesn't matter what the problem is. If the screen is cracked, and we find evidence of liquid in the phone, the phone is liquid damaged, even though replacing the screen would solve the problem.

Haha thanks. I would hate to steer someone in the "wrong" direction. I am positive you are a sprint tech haha, you don't work in KY do you?
