I tried this, the phone does not turn on if the battery is not inserted. Unless I am doing it incorrectly.

Well I'm getting my phone replaced by sprint today because of this issue. I hope the new one doesn't have the same problem. Probable will though with my luck. I'll let you all know if its been fixed.

Re: Discharge Rate > Charging Rate While talking = Dead phone

A tip for people buying 3rd party batteries. Make sure the brand is 'Cameron Sino'. These are high quality batteries that perform like OEM. After getting pissed off with all the crappy EBAY batteries that wouldn't hold a decent charge I did some research and found them. Check the pictures on ebay and you should be able to find the ones with that brand name. I use them in all my devices now and they're great.

Re: Discharge Rate > Charging Rate While talking = Dead phone

So after getting my new touch diamond replacement phone. It works worse then the last one I had. I have it on the charger right now and it doesn't show a charging indicator. This is using the wall charger that came with the phone. I'm so upset. The phone is still getting super hot as well.

Edit:

After using the new phone for a week and switching to the VZW radio I've notice if I keep the battery over 80% or so when i start to tether then I don't have the issue with the discharge rate.

So are you saying that buying a 3rd party batteries would solved this problem?

I don't think that's what he's saying at all. He's simply giving people an FYI for those considering buying 3rd party batteries to have as spares etc.

Re: Discharge Rate > Charging Rate While talking = Dead phone

I have noticed that the Verizon radio keeps the unit from getting so hot and that keeps it from the massive 800-900ma discharge. I have also gone as far as setting up a fan to blow on the unit to keep it cooler aswell. I can now (with the verizon radio) get about 2-3hrs of internet at full speed.

I watched my charge / discharge while I was downloading at full speed, it appears that when the unit is doing alot of downloading etc the charging goes down to 400-500ma. I emailed HTC and they say it is a safety issue as the unit will get way to hot if it was to charge at 500+ while it was downloading.
