sprite backup

i have sprint diamond and installed sprite back up latest version running vista sp2 32 but it will n longer start just says cant start end exits also will not successfully back up on diamond cant uninstall even with uninstall utility from sprite tried to run uninstall utility it opens up zip on diamond but says file curropt but i redownloaded fresh copy still says same thing will not uninstall thru remove progrems or thru active synch just want to get it complety removed so i can start over also sprite is offering backup for htc owners for only 10.00

There is an HTC version of Sprite Backup. Is that the one you installed. I'm using it with no problem, but I have Windows XP not Vista, so that could be the difference as well.

i do not think the 2 are linked because i also can not uninstall from the device

You can try this, it came from the Sprite Backup help files:


To uninstall everything from your device and PC please follow these steps;


Removing all Sprite Backup Files from the Device
1. Use Remove Programs to uninstall the software
2. Use a registry editor for Windows Mobile device to delete the following key in the registry on your device [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
3. Please delete the following Device Installation Destination Folder;
"\Program Files\Sprite Backup" if Sprite Backup was installed on device
or
"\Storage Card\Program Files\Sprite Backup" if installed on storage card
4. Please also delete the following link file if it exists:
- My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Sprite Backup(.lnk)
or
- My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Sprite Backup(.lnk)

To uninstall from your PC:
Please follow these steps carefully to manually remove all Sprite Backup files:


1. Click Start> Run on your PC and type "Regedit" in the bar
2. Delete the following keys;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AppMgr\Apps\Sprite Software Sprite Backup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{D8FD4D0D-E171-4FFC-91CE-BA38EEAC5E06}]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
3. Close the Regsitry Editor
4. Go to the following location to delete these folders;
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{D8FD4D0D-E171-4FFC-91CE-BA38EEAC5E06}
C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup
C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Explorer
This will uninstall everything related to Sprite Software.
