Re: htc car charger
that is a new standard which big phone makers, such as samsung, nokia, moto, etc, agreed to use in coming years.
micro usb has a few advantage over mini usb: 1) interconnect between two phones 2) more durable: 10,000 cycles 3) stress/wearing are on the usb head instead of phone usb. |

Re: htc car charger
most phones are the market today use microusb. htc is one of the last to adopt, but motorola, nokia, sanyo, palm, lg and samsung have been using them for a while now.
and as to why youd pay $20 for an oem when you can use a $5 one...htc devices are picky. even using an oem moto or bb miniusb charger will eventually damage htc devices |

Re: htc car charger
I've dismantled, rewired, and constructed a number of mini-usb chargers from various manufacturers including Blackberry and HTC. They're all the same electrically. Feeding 5 volts through an HTC charger is no "safer" than feeding 5 volts through a generic one.
