I think that I already posted the only thing that can help, if they choose to do that or not is not in my control. If they wish to seek out those with more knowledge, fine, but don't be surprised if they tell you the same thing.

Also, you should always be able to connect while in bootloader to mtty, putty might be better though, it's always worked for me when mtty wouldn't.

Thanks for all the input... I'll categorize this a rather expensive science project. I guess I'll keep it on my desk as a reminder of what not to do.
