Battery life is a joke

For the last two days I haven't been able to use my phone at work.
The battery life has been "great". By 3pm when the battery is normally dead it's still at 85% both days.

I guess the real problem with short battery life is how we use the phone.
That's been mentioned before. Explains why some people are getting days of battery life and some only a few hours, which is where I normally get.

Yes, I concur My Battery life is terrible. I must keep my Exchange Server Connected, and it is killing me. By noon, my battery life is at 50% with some light texting and a couple of 10 min conversations. I have the battery tweaks & Beam turned off too. Any other suggestions??

My battery life is great now that Im running the reg edits. Try MIGHTYMIKE 2.2 IS really good.

make sure you close all programs running in the background. btw, can someone post a link to a program that closes programs automatically at set intervals?

Same here, the battery life out of the box for Alltel Diamond is TERRIBLE. I have had PocketPCs since they were invented and this has to be the worst battery life by far. It really is a joke.

I do remember that my Mogul had very bad battery life for the stock and quite a few ROM iterations, but when I installed nuerom 3 the battery life was amazing and overall operation was much improved, so I am hoping these custom ROMs have similar results. Otherwise the Diamond is the ultimate oxymoron in being one of the most amazing smartphones ever invented yet a total worthless POS as a simple phone.

How do you know if you unlocked your phone properly?

This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to make reg edits and tweaks to my phone to have the battery last longer then a couple hours. I never had this problem with my mogul at all and I do the same stuff on my diamond as i did on my mogul. I believe this to be a defect of the phone and should be fixed by the manufacture.

You do realize that your phone is a collection of hardware and software. Different hardware takes different energy to run. The software controls the hardware. (things like polling, etc.)

If you are really worried about having to make tweaks then this type of phone is not for you. Yes the manufactures should spend more time getting things right but if they did this things would never be released.

I am one of those people that love to tweak and tinker so I love this phone. It keeps me interested.

guys I agree the battery is not lasting as long as other pda devices but if you are only getting a couple hours, there is definitely something wrong with your device. I got my diamond a few weeks ago. On a full charge I get well over 12 hours with light usage. Push email set to 15 minutes, few calls, few texts, some web usage, and 5 minutes of Sprint TV. One thing I noticed though is my phone drains more at home where I am in ev 0 to 2 bars and especially in the my basement where I am either roaming or ev 0 bars. But 2 hours is ridiculous. I do have the battery tweak installed, beam is off and 10 second timeout on the screen. I would return your device if your not getting at least 8 hours.
