Beam is used only if you're letting people "beam" you stuff through infrared... It won't affect your calls or cell data...

It will not hurt. Its useless unless u have infrared port, u dont. Dying batt draining technology.

Cycle your battery. Charge it to full, Let it drain till the phone auto-shuts off (Not when it gives you a low battery warning). Charge it up again. This worked for me (although I hear some people need to cycle it 2-3 times for full effect).

My guess is that when the guys changed the 900 mAh GSM battery out for the 1340mAh battery, they forgot to recalibrate the device or whatever, and at default, it's reading the battery as if its a 900 mAH battery. Here's the funny part: before you recalibrate (cycle) your battery, it'll display a low battery warning, but will continue to run for another 1.5-2 hours afterwards... At least it did for me.

Other thing is, the CDMA radio on this thing is extremely agressive in polling. So if you're ever swapping from 1xRTT to EVDO or roaming, expect your battery to die fairly quickly... Any data apps/connections also causes lots of heat to generate, and heat reduces battery performance significantly, so that's also an issue. Again, wish the engineers at HTC had included a thermal shield around the battery compartment...

My first diamond I treated like a li-ion batt, i didn let it drain, always topping off. It lasted abt 4 hrs regularly. This 1 I let drain n then recharge, 2nd way works better, but both suck. Best ever is 7hrs, 5hrs is normal. And I hve been using 2 weeks, not new batt prob.

Unplugged at 7am, 79% at 3:05pm. About 15 minutes if surfing, about 15 minutes of other third-party apps and games and checked email. In my office, I have 1 bar at best. It is usually 0 bars but still solidly connected to Ev. It'll be down to around 60% when I get home at 7pm.

The first week was the worst, barely lasting all day. The worst after that was on Saturday. Unplugged at 9am, drove to South Carolina (3.5 hrs) in which it went on roaming a few times. Got back at 2am and 21% left. That's after about 2 hrs of internet, some GPS use and a few phone calls (maybe 15 min at best).

I have found that the overall brightness affects the battery a hell of a lot. I have my brightness about 35% of the way up, this phone is bright as it is, if you have your brightness far to the right over the middle bar that could be the culprit for batter life.
I found that when I went from being above the half way line to being a little below improved my performance dramatically. Give it a try!

Is there a extended battery for the diamond yet

this is the second diamond i am on and the battery life on here is excellent! sure it doesnt last thru the day, but i put this phone thru some heavy useage throughout the day constantly on the internet, texting and making calls. i have a gull charge in the morning and it doesnt hit low battery until a good 12 hours later. pretty much the same as any phone u put thru heavy usage. the diamond and pros are powerful devices so they are going to use up alot more power than normal phones. but overall, i think they have made some improvements to the diamonds because this 2nd one i have here is great and is finally living up to the expectations ive had for it in the beginning.
