Re: Battery life is a joke

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think the turning of beaming helped somewhat. Still though, around 5 P.M. today I was at about 20%. I might add that my phone will wake up by itself constantly and I'm sure that doesn't help at all. I will definitely try all the battery hacks I can find. Is there a thread somewhere with just those?

Re: Battery life is a joke

I think the battery life has a lot to do with signal strength. Signal at my home is very bad. My Sprint diamond will drop to 1 bar over night from 100%, idling without any use. At work, where signal is very good, it definitely lasts longer.

is it actually waking up by itself? i used to think mine would wake up by itself but would come to find out that it was actually an alert like a text message or so coming in.

Lithium-ion batteries should not be frequently fully discharged and recharged ("deep-cycled") like Ni-Cd batteries, but this is necessary after about every 30th recharge to recalibrate any external electronic "fuel gauge" (e. g. State Of Charge meter). This prevents the fuel gauge from showing an incorrect battery charge.
  • Li-ion batteries should never be depleted to below their minimum voltage, 2.4 V to 3.0 V per cell.
  • Li-ion batteries should be kept cool. Ideally they are stored in a refrigerator. Aging will take its toll much faster at high temperatures. The high temperatures found in cars cause lithium-ion batteries to degrade rapidly.
  • Li-ion batteries should not be frozen (most lithium-ion battery electrolytes freeze at approximately −40 °C; however, this is much colder than the lowest temperature reached by household freezers).
  • Li-ion batteries should be bought only when needed, because the aging process begins as soon as the battery is manufactured.
  • When using a notebook computer running from fixed line power over extended periods, the battery should be removed and stored in a cool place so that it is not affected by the heat produced by the computer.
So does this mean with the batteries we shouldn't "condition" it by letting it drain all the way and recharging it.

I haven't even gotten my Diamond yet (coming in a few days) and i'm already worried about the batteries problem.

If you have a password set, try disabling it. On my device, I found that having a password set would keep the CPU running until the "prompt if unused" delay. It would also prevent the Bluetooth and WiFi radios from physically turning off if they had ever been on since the device started.

Yes, it'd definitely not an alert or a text. I can just sit here and watch it come on with zero alerts like 5 times an hour. It's also very random so I have no idea.

Update to juicy custom rom, and change your radio rom to the verizon radio and I guarantee you that your battery will last at least twice as long.

I turned off the beaming this morning and I'm at 66% battery life right now! I've never been above 50% by this time of the day. Usually at 30-40% by now. I hope this just wasn't a fluke thing. I would recommend others who are having battery issues to try this if they haven't already.

Re: Battery life is a joke

yeah turning off the accept all incoming beams has always improved my battery life greatly with winmo devices. and since there's no infrared in the diamond, im pretty sure it applies to bluetooth...
