I'm stickin' with s2u2 v1.32 for now, works great, looks great, and totally customizable....best part...IT'S FREE!!!!

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I have been playing around with it and i really like it.
It is simple and does its job.

I dont know if what I downloaded was a trial version or just a version without all the bells and whistles.

I think I am going to be sticking with this for a while.

I really like the light sensor unlock...the battery meter is a nice touch too.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I can just see it now, some dimwit will shake to unlock and literally throw his/her phone by not paying attention. I do however like the slide to unlock vertically. But to each his own, I'll stick with s2u2.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I thought of the same thing so disabled the side to side gesture.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I had a call come in, picked up the phone which was awake displaying the unlock screen but would not unlock. The call went to voicemail and then the screen unlocked.

I have removed this for now but will keep an eye on others experiences.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I have not had any issues with it as of yet.

I am only using the scroll to unlock at the moment.

I will post any issue, if any should pop up.

Does anyone know how the change the picture for the S2U2 screen saver on the HTC Diamond? I'm not sure which file it's located in.

I spent an hour setting s2u2 to stay locked all the time. Not only did my i760 continue to answer when area where the "answer" softkey was touched, but both hard "answer" buttons worked as well.

Maybe I'm blowing it?

I'm been using PocketShield the last couple days....it actually a pretty cool app!

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I only have one problem with it. When I get a call and the phone goes to sleep during the call, it locks. I have to unlock it to hangup. I think there is a way to stop it from going to sleep, but not sure how that would affect the battery life. Other than that I really like the program. I think I am going ask the pocket shield support if they can add an option to not lock if a call is active.

searcher61 10-30-2008 02:21 PM

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

Got a response from PocketShield Support...and I feel stupid. All you have to do is press the "End" Hardware button. That will hang up the call even if the phone is locked by PocketShield. So, my one issue with the program is gone. I think its a great program.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

Yeah i love it.... cool not having to unlock. I tested it under "extreme" circumstances: at night i locked it and it stayed locked, put a light directly over the phone and it unlocked in a fraction of a second.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

i wish it would display the date as well as the time when it was locked

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I have used S2U for a few weeks and although most of time it works fine, I got annoyed with occational freeze of the program (can't slide and screen stuck) and delayed locking when a call comes in)

Tried the pocketshield for a day now. The light sensor works well. THe slide to unlock again, sometimes suffers from getting stuck. I begin to think it may be my settings. Any one knows any settings to improve the slide when a call comes in, I would appreciate it.

Okay, I'm feeling like a dummy. I installed the software, it works fine-- but where's the battery meter you mentioned?

Thanks!

There is a green bar at the bottom of the screen...i think it is the bottem.

Aha! I'm colorblind, so the bar at the bottom of the screen looks all one color to me-- but my wife informs me that it does appear exactly as you say. Thanks!

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I've been using this for the past week and its working quite well!! I also turned off the gesture unlock and am relying on the light unlock and slide unlock.

I'd like to have a sensitivity setting for the light unlock as if you're in a slightly dimmed down but lit room it won't unlock with the sensor, it needs a pretty bright light source to unlock. Other than that, its simple, small footprint and it does the job very well!!

Only other thing I'd probably enjoy is a different style battery meter (like the WhiteFinix % battery icon that is used on the task bar) and a date display as well as the time. The missed call, message alerts and reminder icons all work as expected.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

i hate the lack of customization on the application.. u cannot even choose to show the date along with the time

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

Hehe, for something like this I personally like the complete simplicity of this app. S2U2 just has to many options and the few times I tried it I was never satisfied with it.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I needed a screen lock for one reason: When removing the phone from the case to answer a call, the case itself would interact with the phone and cancel the call.

As far as I could tell, S2U2 wouldn't lock the call screen, which to me, defeated the purpose of having a screen lock.

PocketShield is working great in that respect - no more accidentally ignored calls...

i was just noticing that the other day.. u can also setup pocket shield to answer the call as well with a swipe down....instead of swiping to unlock then tapping to answer

not sure why s2u2 automatically unlocks itself on incoming calls

with pocketshield though i had some issues that the phone would freeze on incoming calls and i could not answer the call... would only be able to unlock once the incoming call has ended

with s2u2 u can also set it up to slide to answer.. to help prevent accidental pickups

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I had this happen with the Opera browser running or minimized. Otherwise I have had no problems at all. Sent an email to tech support, he tested version 2.0 for this issue and no problems occurred.

...can't wait for v2.0

Edit: The caller id screen was showing after unlocking but the "answer" and "ignore" soft keys were non-responsive.

I just removed Pocketshield from my phone for precisely that reason: when the phone rang, no combination of swipes, gestures, or light would unlock it until after it went to voicemail. Now I'm back to inadvertently answering or ignoring calls as I pull the phone out of the pouch!

Exactly my issue and Pocketshield fits the bill perfectly

I like the earlier version better. This one will not let me answer. It is prettier though.

Hi Bostonshaker, I do not understand. I use PS 2.0 and it does let me answer the phone. You just have to swipe downwards using the green part of slide button. To cancel use the red part. Doesn't PS show these two arts on your phone?

In general I like PS for now. I tried Su2U but it takes 5 seconds to ring after receiving a call. I also tried AnswerKeyDisabler, StylusLock, SensorLock and ThrottleLauncher. Somehow there always was something not working right or it did not work as I thought it should (didn't say my idea is the right one).

My only quirck with PS is the size compared to AnswerKeyDisabler which is an incredible 16 KB (yes kilobytes).

I try swiping downward time and time again with no luck. I keep missing calls. I may have to just shut it off and uninstall it. The previous version worked great for me.

I can't get pocketshield to work for the life of me. I've tried 3 versions including the newest today. I have the following bugs. Gestures don't work at all. After a few times powering off and unlocking with the slider the program stops working and my top status bar disappears and shows black, requiring a soft reset. ('start', battery meter etc all gone) I am using a Telus diamond with Juicy's ROM 3.4

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

I used PS 2.0 but just removed it because of the new dialer that it installs does the same thing as some dialers I tried on my Mogul ... the data arrows never get greyed out. It's a silly thing that just bugs me.

Anyway, I removed the program, but the dialer won't go away. Now I'm going to hard reset. :(

I liked the program other than that.

x2, when I uninstalled the dialer wasn't removed so I had to hard reset.

Re: PocketShield Screen Lock

To get the original dialer back, reinstall the app, go into the settings and uncheck to use the pocketshield dialer, soft reset, then uninstall pocketshield. That should get you back to normal.
