Re: Unboxing: Alltel HTC Touch Diamond

IMO, i think the sprint red looks a lot sexier. black looks rather bland.

Re: Unboxing: Alltel HTC Touch Diamond

The difference in weight is due to the heat plate that was left out of the Sprint version-- that plate being absent is what caused the battery drain that was discussed so heavily here.

My battery is great, better than that of my Touch.

Re: Unboxing: Alltel HTC Touch Diamond

Hey w0rdie, I know I am newly registered but I have done my reading over the past few months. I noticed you got flamed for not mentioning your source for your release date info. I can only imagine the penalty for leaking inside information so I don't fault you at all. The less info you give the less likely you are at getting caught. You have proven time and time again that your info is accurate. I am desperately waiting for the touch pro and even considered switching to Sprint just to get it. I love Alltel's service especially in the northern parts of Wisconsin. Is November 14th as far as you know still the release date for the pro?

I know you've said a million times that the Alltel Diamond has the exact same specs as the Sprint Diamond, but I have one question.

The Alltel website has now been updated and everything seems to be the same as the Sprint version, except for the weight. Alltel reports a "weight (w/ battery)" of 5.46 ounces, whereas Sprint reports 4.2 ounces. Seems like a huge difference. I would assume Sprint included the battery in the weight calculation, though not sure. Sprint's battery is 1340 mAh. Is Alltel's battery the same size?

How's the battery life? Can you get through a day?

Thanks again.
I don't think that weight is right, even HTC's website lists the weight as being 4.05oz for the Alltel version. It was my understanding that the Sprint battery issues were more related to a bad radio then the lack of a heat plate. I have had my Sprint Diamond for almost a week now and the battery life isn't too bad and I am sure will improve with the next radio update.

In regards to the heat/battery issues on the Sprint Diamond -

Quote:
Battery life issue on the diamond is due to the radio in constant refresh, basically instead of interval of 300ms the diamond was set to 100ms and causes battery drain. The heat issue is also another cause but the reason for the heat is due to the heat plate was not added to the sprint version behind the keys like it was supposed to and sprint and HTC are discussing that.
...the heat plate is on the Pro, also I tested the phone and over clocked the processor to test to see if there was a heat issue, there was not a problem at all, and the processor took the over clock nicely. I tested the radio also for the heat issue and after 2.2 hours it was warm to were it could be noticed but correct me if I'm wrong what phone doesn't get warm with that amount of talk time.
