Typing on Diamond coming from Touch

I currently have a Sprint Touch and am deciding to go for a Diamond or Touch Pro. I have done a lot of reading on people's experience with the diamond and have to admit I am a bit surprised that some people are surprisngly happy using the on-screen keyboard on the diamond.

I love my touch and for texting the on screen keyboard works pretty well. However for web surfing and putting in passwords I find it a little annoying since those require using special characters and changing out the keyboard often. The predictive text also gets annoying when I try to put in URLs even though I have it set to Full Qwerty.

Those that have gone to a Diamond from a Touch, has the on-screen keyboard experience gotten better? If so how? And I'm not talking about installing 3rd party keyboard apps.

The experience is much better for me. The KB is much more stable, no lag, and very sensitive to the touch making for quicker typing.

But what makes it better? Easier to hit keys? Predictive text works better? Isn't it the same keyboard that comes with the latest software update of the Touch?

Re: Typing on Diamond coming from Touch

Using resco keyboard & rotate screen app in start menu; resco kb then goes landscape & works excellent!

Re: Typing on Diamond coming from Touch

I have always been one to gravitate to slide out keyboards. In fact, I told myself and others I could never use an on-screen keyboard.

I forced myself to use the Diamond Keyboard on my 6700 for a week. By the end of the week, I didn't miss my slide out and actually found it more cumbersome to have to slide the keyboard out and rotate the screen etc to use it, then rotate back to do other things.

I can do it all with out flipping the device around and I can do it one handed.

I really like the way the Diamond keyboard works, both with numbers, T9 and special symbols, it's a great keyboard.

Re: Typing on Diamond coming from Touch

When composing a text message, does the screen automatically switch to landscape when you turn the phone to its side? (on the diamond)

No, the screen only automatically rotates in Pictures/Videos and Opera Mobile, out of the box.
