Re: Diamond USB connection port loose - finally solved connection and activesync issu

After reading different posts about whether the Diamond USB port is proprietary or not, let me throw in my two cents worth:

Yes, the connector on the Diamond is a proprietary shape, however, any mini USB cable will work. I use the HTC USB cable on my home computer, a Motorola charger in my car (from an old RAZR that I had) and a generic USB cable on my work PC. I don't have any sync issues on either PC and the phone charges just fine with the Motorola car charger. The same is true for my better half's Touch. She uses a generic cable on her PC with no problems. Any USB-mini will work with no issues.

Re: Diamond USB connection port loose - finally solved connection and activesync issu

I stand corrected. I didn't believe it would fit and was convinced it wouldn't but I grabbed a mini-b cable and lined it up... sure enough it fits. Here I was thinking that HTC had done us a huge disservice... but it only turned out to be a minor one. The HTC connector doesn't fit super snuggly and the mini-b is worse in that department, but it does work.

Any mini usb charger will work on your Diamond, or any other HTC PPC. Besides, there is no difference between a Mini usb charger that plugs into the bottom or one that plugs into the side. Either way, its a mini usb charger

Re: Diamond USB connection port loose - finally solved connection and activesync issu

I would like to confirm that the MiniB and the HTC connector are compatible, though... the miniB doesn't fit a snuggly as the OEM HTC connector.

I found this out when I accidentally plugged my MP3 player cord into it and updated to mightys rom a while back... then thought to myself wait a sec I left my HTC cable at work. I updated my firmware on a MiniB without realizing it.

Kinda pissed me off after I realized this, because I went on a business trip, and forgot the HTC cable, and I paid 20 bux for a OEM one, when I could have grabbed one from the dollar store.
