Replacement Diamond: Issues Gone

So Sprint sent me a replacement Diamond because I was only getting about 1/4 of all my calls. The rest were going straight to voicemail. I had other problems with the device as well, and they seem to be very common based on the threads here. My battery life was atrocious, 5-6 hours standby max. I could press the exact same spot on the d-pad repeatedly, and some press would go through while others wouldn't. And then there was the heat. Massive amounts of heat.

Well, the replacement device not only fixed the calls going to voicemail, but to my surprise all my issues were fixed. The battery life, while still not quite as good as the Touch, is going strong. I got 25% left after 13 hours of use. While the design of the d-pad is terrible, as long as i find that sweet spot that registers the press, I can press it over and over and it will be recognized. And while it does still get hot, it's nothing compared to how warm my old Diamond got. I just thought I'd mention to those who are having similar problems, it is possible to get a working Diamond. So maybe consider getting a replacement instead of returning altogether.

Re: Replacement Diamond: Issues Gone

I called in and talked to Advanced Technical Support for a couple hours last Friday. When they couldn't solve the problem they created an e-ticket to go to the store and get a replacement. The store didn't have any, so I ended up calling Sprint and talking with retentions. They placed the replacement order on Saturday, it shipped Monday, and I got it Wednesday.

This is a common problem? Crap, I just bought one on ebay. It's probably an older defective model.

Re: Replacement Diamond: Issues Gone

I think part of the problem was the first batch of the phones. I got mine a week ago and i agree alot with what smeg said on his second one, i have very little issues with battery. Yes it is nearly dead by the end of the day, but im playing with it quite a bit with text,mp3, and voice calls. I would say i talk about an hour to hour 1/2 a day, nothing super but phone does fine. The back gets slightly warm, but i havent experienced the burning that most people post about. I have to agree on the d pad, if you dont find the sweet spot, then it can be a struggle to move around the menus.

The calls not ringing through isn't common. I posted a thread about it here and didn't get anyone else with the problem. The excessive heat, horrible battery, and d-pad are all common problems that I no longer have.
