Re: Wheel-2-Unlock UNDER DEVELOPEMENT!!!

Well don't I have the good news today! I went to load the project up this weekend to get some work done on it and found that the project is corrupt. I think it happened on my old laptop or when I copied it to my new laptop, though I am not sure. I just had it opened last week too. Because of my frustration with the loss of my work, I didn't restart development this weekend. I just stewed in my own sh*t...

But I am done stewing now and I am starting over from scratch, because I have no other choice. This may set me back a little in time, but will probably be better anyway. I always did hate having to go back to code written months or even years before, and I have a fresh look on this project.

So bear with me... I will start it this week in the eveneings and will see what I can work out.

On behalf of all the ppcgeek members that are desperately waiting for this program to release i would like to say that it really does suck to have all your hard work just die like that cuz of some stupid problem and that we understand all you difficulties...take your time, but make sure the end product is something we have rightfully waited for.

thanks rainfreak for taking your time into creating this program for absolutely free for all of us to benefit.

P.S.
Thanks

Thanks to everyone for your understanding and continued interest in this project. Between a stressful job demanding a minimum of 50 hours per week, a wonderful wife and four kids, a new grand daughter and chronic and increasingly worse back problems, it was easy for me to put this project on indefinte hold and ultimately forget about it.

But trust me, I feel like a real jacka$$ for making all of those who have showed interest in this project wait so long for a finished product. So I have rededicated myself to finishing this project and doing everything within my power to get it done quickly. And believe me, I will not release this until I know that it is more than any of us ever wanted. Because, after all this time, everyone deserves a really cool locking app that looks good, functions well and has all of the features, and more, that were originally discussed.

With all of that said, I got a fair amount of work done on it tonight and am happy so far with the progress. And I am going to try to keep up with daily updates here on the overall progress.

Good to see you around here, Rainfreak. Hope your health is at least starting to get better, and you are on the road to recovery (Alhough, by the sounds of it, I know what you are going through, minus the family, and am still waiting for the right doctor to tell me what's wrong, so I can get on with my life, and hopefully find the right treatment. Although you don't sound like things are getting better... )?
Just an FYI:
WM6.5 and most likely WM7 will still not answer the need for a great functional locking program, so just know, this project could easily stay strong for even all of WM6.x's life and beyond. Hope to see by the time an RC comes around, you'll be feeling 100% better. It's a hard road though, heck even living single, so I couldn't possibly imagine your struggles; with that having a grandchild AND children... Stay strong!
Andrew,

Andrew,
Thanks bro. Yeah, having chronic pain does suck, sorry to hear that you are in a bad way too.

I hope that this app will be popular and something that the masses want, but honestly, I am doing it now because I owe it to the people that wanted it way back when we first discussed it. That and I have a few other ideas for apps for my TP and Diamond and this is a good place to get my feet wet

Re: Wheel-2-Unlock UNDER DEVELOPEMENT!!!

A little update for everyone still watching this thread and even remotely interested in this app. I worked on it again last night for a couple of hours and got even further. I currently have an app that is able to run on my TP, albeit that it doe not do much (yet). Here is a screenshot I took last night:

So here is a little breakdown of what I have done so far and how I did it...

The time is being pulled from the system and displaying with a simple system font. The text below the wheel is also just a simple text entry. This means that both of these fields (clock and footer text) can be changed via a settings file in the app's directory. I plan on implementing clocks more like the style of S2U2, I was more just testing that I was pulling the correct time. The footer text will remain editable in the settings to allow for personal customization.

The wheel is an image that I threw together in a few minutes using Photoshop. It is absolutely NOT the final image but rather a testing tool for the app in it's current state. The image for the wheel can also be changed in the settings, so further personal custominzation is of course available. Currently the wheel does nothing... I am still working on the layout pulling info from the system. After all of that, I will work on that part.

All of the hardware buttons are disabled when the app is running. Tonight I am going to try to get the carrier information, signal strength, volume settings and battery meter into the app when it is locked. I am debating on putting all of this stuff in the middle of the wheel or maybe at the bottom, under the footer text. I guess I was thinking of trying to further differentiate myself from S2U2.

So... any thoughts or feedback from anyone?

Re: Wheel-2-Unlock UNDER DEVELOPEMENT!!!

I'm loving the look.... how about our notifications go right under the clock? Or are you putting appointments/alarms there?.... or not?

I like the idea of being able to change out the wheel graphic!

what happens when a call is recieved? Will the phonecall screen come up?

Re: Wheel-2-Unlock UNDER DEVELOPEMENT!!!

Sounds great so far! I really like the idea of putting the status stuff inside the wheel. I'm sick of the S2U2 look, probably caused by my dislike of iPhone. Anyways can't really make any suggestions right now, just hope to see a beta out soon!! Thanks Rainfreak!!!!!!
