Re: Diamond Storage

So what happens if you install programs to the internal storage, and then hard reset and flash a new ROM.

Are the programs still there and working, or are they bonked.

No one said you can't clear the internal memory. The question asked was: "if a hard reset is done, is the internal memory cleared?"

Re: Diamond Storage

Reflashing a ROM or doing a hard reset will only affect the device storage not the internal memory (which is just like a non-removable memory card inside the phone)

So do programs installed on the device storage still run?

I don't know why windows mobile uses that terminolgy but, "clear storage" will hard reset the phone without affecting the internal 4gb. "format internal storage only" will erase the internal 4gb only, and "clear storage & format" is a true "Hard Reset" clearing the internal 4gb and hard resetting the phone.

The programs themselves are there, but any registry entries associated with them will not be. So the programs may or may not work. They likely won't be in your list of available programs either, so you'll have to manually create links to them.

This is the same behaviour as installing programs on a removable card, and either transferring the card to another machine or reformating the current one. Just think of the Internal Storage as a memory card that you can't remove.

Thanks, that's what I figured would happen because that's what would happen on a normal Windows machine. Was just trying to see if Windows Mobiles was perhaps different.
