Diamond Specs & Release Date

I have seen many people guess that Verizon would get a gimped Diamond after Sprint's 30 exclusive is over. However I have never seen anything other than random forums posts saying this. Until I stumbled across this phonedog entry.

Supposedly, Verizon will have the Diamond in October sometime. The white version we've started seeing pictures of. With a gimped 400Mhz processor and memory slot instead of 4Gb internal. Hopefully they didn't remove the g-sensor too.

Has anyone seen any other rumors for those of us with vzw getting our hands on our gimped version of this phone?

Wouldn't be surprized. Would be a nice change and option for other Diamond users, if the demensions stay the same then we can swap out cases if so desired.

Looks more like mixed speculation / rumor, to get feedback on a what if.. Those pictures were released earlier and are of a GSM prototype.

Still would be interesting if it happend.

400 Mhz processor doesn't seem ideal...

Velocity Mobile 103 device was just reviewed on Brighthand.com (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=14374). They really critique the combination of the Qualcomm MSM7201 400 Mhz processor and a VGA screen. The device was SLOW and the reviewer complained excessively about the processor speed.....

I know the Verizon Diamond info is preliminary (Qualcomm 7500 400 Mhz processor). The only document that I have seen with Verizon Diamond specs is this one (http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/More...le-a_3021.html). Not sure how reliable this is....

Why would Verizon knowingly decrease the processor speed and make it a suboptimal device? Battery life? Stupidity? I don't see how this move can make them money.

Yuk.. I'll take the Red softtouch back over that white any day of the week.

Curious though how a phone with different specs as the Sprint one with the GSM form factor hasnt hit the FCC yet. I mean, technically its going to be a different Diamond version, like the DIAM100 (EU GSM), 110 (US GSM), and 500 (CDMA) that have already gone through right? Slower proc, microSD, GSM form factor, CDMA chipset?

VZW online training for the Touch Diamond appears to be from 11/3 to 12/3/08.... Anyone know if this means the Diamond will come out on Verizon after 12/3/08?

We'll probably have a good idea on the Diamonds release date based on when the storm is officially released. If the storm comes out on 11/3, we can probably bet the Diamond will be on 12/4.

I'm not exactly happy with that, or with the gimped hardware everything keeps pointing to. If I didn't get Verizon through work, I'd probably switch, or just buy an un-gimped phone to use with Verizon. Anyone know of anyone using a sprint Diamond on Verizon? Is it even possible?
