Wow, so I never even bothered trying the camera, and its pretty nice for a cameraphone. The key with all of these small sensor cameras is good lighting. Steady hands help as well. This may be obvious to most people but there is autofocus on this cam, so you place your finger over the center button/scrollwheel and wait for the bracket to turn green (a red "X" means it can't focus, for example if its closer than the minimum focusing distance which is quite close btw) then press to actually take the picture. You can focus recompose as in the example below where you center the frame around the place to focus, place your finger over the center button (without pushing) and confirm focus, then reframe to a different location.
