This frustrated me so I decided to see if I could figure out what it was. Not saying this will work for all of you, but it did for me and now Im browsing with my new HTC Diamond!! Thanks to Rainfreak we have the most common issue with data services fixed!! If that doesn't work try the Update Profile option.

Most common fix for no internet!!! Thanks Rainfreak

1. Dial ##3282#
2. Click Edit and enter your MSL. (Call sprint for your MSL)
3. Tap & Highlight Active Profile.
4. Click Menu then Edit.
5. Change value to 1 then Ok, Ok again.
6. Click Yes to update the items then Ok to reset.

and/or

Try Start/Settings/System tab and click Update Profile.

I got you one up... I spend almost 2 hours on the phone and they're calling me back tomorrow. I also drove to the store to have tech support look at it. Spent more than an hour there.

After all this was said and done, I came back here and read this thread. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!

Thank you Wideawake and Rainfreak!!!

Yep same issue here. Needed to change the damn 0 to a 1. Sigh.

Yeah, it sucks when a company as large as Sprint blows the release of such a sweet phone. But I am glad that I was able to stumble across a working fix and share it with everyone here. To me, that's what this site is all about.

Thanks guys, you're awesome. Got my Touch Diamond delivered Wednesday (9/17) and I called and activated it and I wrote down the numbers & instructions that they gave me. After I got it, I set up the Wi-Fi and didn't notice that the net didn't work until I left the house that night. I called Wed night, Thurs, Fri and Sat and they all asked the same thing:

"Any onscreen error messages?"

"No."

"What's not working?"

"Anything having to do with the net, weather won't update, browser, TV and Music won't work."

"Oh, well okay, here it is, I notice that Vision (the internet) is actually down in your area right now."

"How big of an area?"

"Parts all over California."

"Any idea what's wrong or when it'll be fixed?"

"No and there's no ETA."

About 5 different people and they all said the same thing. Nothing about doing the ## thing. On Sat (9/20) the lady put a note in my account to credit me for all the days I don't have the net, so that's good I guess.

I posted on Sprint's Buzz About Wireless forums and eventually got led here, so I tried it and it asked me for the unlock code. Tried several different things and no dice. It let me view but not edit (and viewing it I saw that it was 0 instead of 1), Sprint's tech support doesn't open for like another 2 hours but then I remembered writing down the ## stuff when I activated the phone, sure enough, that worked. Switched to 1, did a reset and now I'm getting speeds of 2730.67Mbps in my house with 2-3bars of service!

Thanks again!

ps - Sorry about the long post, I'm just shocked at how inept people can be. I have Verizon FiOS and it's the same thing, checking on forums it's easier to find answers and then you have to hope that the CSR doesn't get mad that you know the answer before them!

I did this changing of 0 to 1 also, and while the internet is now working i never get evdo speeds and connection, instead i get that 1x symbol which i never get in my area on any of my pda's. My slingbox is almost inoperable with this 1x. I will backup changes and do hard reset if that don't work i'm going back to my touch.

Yet Sprint stlll refuses to give credit where credit is due.

This is the solution to the 'no dialup, fails provisioning' problem:

once you get the MSL, set active profile to 1 and soft reset, run the profile update, it will 'fail', but if you view ##3282# it will have the user/pass/secret filled out. Reset again and it should connect. I think this was a flaw in the most recently factory flashed sprint rom. Tech support does not have ANY procedures for this phone, they are all flying blind so don't expect any help from them.
