Diamond retentions deals

For all of the SERO customers interested, I am about 15 months in on the 50 dollar sero plan, I called retentions to see if they could do better than the 75 dollar upgrade and they upped my discount to 120. Final price $430 was the best that he could do. He suggested that I A) wait till march when I'm eligable, or B) buy one on ebay later. I went ahead at 430, with free shipping and no activation fee. Billed directly to my account. Hope this helps.

Yeah all you SERO customers should get even more of a deal.

I don't get it. I've had SERO ($30 dollar plan) for 15 months too and I got the full discount with a 2-year agreement. It sounds like it really depends on who you get.

You're right. If given the choice, we should all pay as much as we can. I really don't see why it affects you. He's just saying what his experience was, and wondered if there was anything better he could get.

Damn.. I just placed a order and all I got was 75 off. No sweat.. I am returning it within 29 days for a full refund. Then i will try calling instead of the online deal and request a further discount. thanks foir the heads up.

Because that's the reason SERO went away. You already get the best deal in American wireless, and you still want more.

Re: Diamond retentions deals

Seriously, why do you and people like you, care?

I mean you just came in and hijacked the OP's thread with something that's obviously a personal issue, and amongst other things, that's just rude.

If you want to pay a high price for essentially the same service, go to AT&T.

If you want to have a hand in deciding what's "fair" pricing for any mobile company, I suggest you sit on one of their Boards and help decide price points and services that way, maybe you can even get rid of Simply Everything Plus! Yeah! That'll show'em!

Until then, please don't hijack threads over something silly.

Thanks to the OP, I may consider your strategy if I decide to upgrade to the Touch Pro (while selling my Mogul and Treo 650)

Thanks!

Because there was a great deal out there that most people got through a bogus email anyway, then they call and waste more time and money by trying to get retentions deals and what not.

That's why SERO went away. It was a great program, but it was abused too many times by too many people.

Re: Diamond retentions deals

Yeah, but why does it matter to YOU Chappy? (and folks like you?) Like, why do those observations (which I agree with) ruffle your feathers? Why do they get your metaphorical "panties in a bunch"?

I mean, what, you actually know somebody that works for Sprint, and you found out about SERO at the last minute after it's been out forever? Is that your angle?

I mean you can't possibly care that SERO's gone if you already have it. (Unless you want to add a line?)

Besides, the mark of a smart consumer is that they find the best deals. I used to laugh at those ladies with the coupons, but now that I'm grown and more wise, I don't find them funny anymore...lol, okay, maybe just a little, but I digress.

Look, I'm not trying return unkindness with like kind, but you do realise friend that your feelings, and as a matter of fact, this issue, has nothing to do with the OP right? Just wanted to point that out before this thread goes the way of other threads of this nature.

Again, thanks OP. Good post on a possible deal move.

All I havbe to say is Sprint is making it were what ever you are eli. for is what you get unless supervisor approval. The days of give away the farm is over. I and all of Sprint did not get a merit raise as of FEB 2008 due to giving away the farm last year. People just ask for to much! The statement what do you care , well it affects my pay too.

Re: Diamond retentions deals

Actually, that's a great deal, from my perspective friend! MSRP $550 x 2 = 1100 - 600 = 500 / 2 = $250 per phone! If I remember correctly, that's less than the normal 2 year agreement plus rebates!

MMM, Yummy! LOL!

This is a forum. If someone has a question or feels like stating something else they should be able to. All you little babies complaining about threads getting hijacked need to go suck on a bottle. We have a subject and to get info sometimes you gotta ask for info. I just dont really understand why people post negative stuff when they see something they dont feel like reading. I know alot of you "internet gangstas" like to hide behind your CPU. Just keep things calm and collective. If someone has a question just give them some type of respect and guide them. Dont get hostile.

you make a valid statement, but what does it has to do with the topic of the thread. we can always starts a new thread on ethics but to what end, ur concerns will not prevent anybdy from begging for more discounts from retentions. any also why do they (retentions) cave in to absurd demands? so lets get back on topic, pls let the argument go away for now, fighting over the internes is like competing in special olympics, even if u win, u are still retarded](*,)

the mathe was like this: 600$ for 2 fones, with a vague possibility of getting one MIR of 100 and still vaguer possibility of getting another 100mir. But i wanted 500/2 fones, and no MIR hassles.

Sero is or was a great thing but it had to be done the right way with the proper email and yes some got away with it, but now email and our login is required for the plus plans and honestly that should have been the way from the beginning. But phone deals are and should be the same across the board UNLESS extreme cases but a deal just because you want the newest thing out , heck ATT wont work a better deal on the ICRAP phone. BY THE WAY the Diamond is freaking cool and the sad thing is I cant get one til March on my upgrade.

Re: Diamond retentions deals

well, i emailed sprint asking for upgrade options from the treo 800w--- we will see what they offer back (my experience with sprint is I'll get it for free in exchange of 800w)

I'm going to miss my 800w i know it, but I'm stubborn and want the newest devices out there, and i plan on going to the htc touch pro when it comes out.

and maybe after that I'll go back to treo 800w, bc of all phones I've had, the 800w is the best so far and i don't think it can be beat.

and to the little girl argument going on here--if you don't get the best possible deal you can you aren't a good consumer, and its your own loss-- don't take it out on the smarter consumers who know how to haggle and find the best deal possible...thats just dumb

Umm.....then don't give away the farm? (Spoken in past tense)

Look, I am genuinely sorry that you didn't get a merit raise. I'm very Capitalist, and I think that sucks friend......but as such, don't you think your concerns would be better directed at your co-workers? Or better yet, management?

Putting the blame on the people that do NOT run the company...................

Look, hey, I'm sure you'll get your raise this year. The BUSINESS practice is now different. Not yelling friend, just pointing out. Godspeed.

There is an easier way of getting your phone replaced if it does have REAL problems SPECIALLY ( hint hint) if when the END OF LIFE * not offered on the web* that Ausurion will provide a model that is similar in features. IE MOGUL VS TOUCH PRO but the regular agent will not be able to order it and a supervisor at AUSURION will have to get involved. HINT HINT. I got my i850 that is at end of life and no longer refurbed with a i880 this way.

TO the OP - I want to thank you for trying to let us know when a bargain is available. I don't have SERO but it is always nice to know when someone manages a good deal as it may assist others in the same boat.

I was told retentions couldn't do a thing any more - not so - I called this morning and got 200 extra minutes each month.

Hopefully someone won't post that I'm single handedly bringing down Sprint by asking for more minutes I may or may not use every month :)

Do not get me wrong it is not that if you do have a REAL problem with your account then no problem it is the ones that have no problems that ruin it for those who do. BTW trust me the Ausurion thing works

i spoke to telesales which in return had to speak to their national unit which had to review my account. after being put on hold numerous times the rep told me i was denied any sort of discount besides the 75/150 discount. after speaking to the rep about how new customers get everything and long existing customers get nothing and asking to be put through to the cancellation dept, the rep put me on hold again, came back in a few seconds and said sorry about this mixup the phone is yours for 249. so there you have it

Exil3d 09-14-2008 05:27 PM

Re: Diamond retentions deals

Looks like we can have the phone for 249.99 if we threaten with cancelation. I managed to get that price too by saying that I can get 2 iphones for under 500$. And it worked. Weeeee! Finally.. now lets hope we get it by thid Tuesday.

Heh, you can still find an email and CID to get in. One of the more up there guys at sprint actually posted his email and last 3 of his employee id on his blog and it is currently listed on the SERO thread on slickdeals:

russ.s.mcguire@sprint.com CID: 383

sprint was well aware people were using SERO that should not have technically gotten it, don't you think they would have closed up the savings@sprintemi.com loophole if they truly cared before?

Re: Diamond retentions deals

Called retentions for the second time, still being offered with 575$/2 phones plus MIR of 100 on one phone coz the other has been only 6 months in contract.
Here the breakdown:
Phone 1: contract expires nov 2009
Phone 2: contract expires aug 2010 (got a touch in feb 08, free airave last week but had to extend the contract)
basically i qualify for 75 on fone 2, given 200 off on fone one and 250 off thru retentions:
550*2= 1100-75-200-250=575/2 fones, when MIR comes thru, its 475/2 fones
I said pls notate all this on my account, i wud call back.
what do u guys suugest its good enough??? i am confused, cant resist!!

Re: Diamond retentions deals

To Chappy and others who seem to have issues with me getting some kind of "deal" and bitterness towards it. I the op clearly did not even get the best deal of what's been described by people so far. I decided to shell out 430!! dollars for the phone WITH a two year contract. The point here is that I am a loyal customer who pays on time every month, and yes I get a pretty good deal with the 50 dollar sero plan, but it is by no means 30 bucks a month. My issue which I tried to make clear to retentions, but perhaps not clearly enough was that if I was with sprint for 22 months but only wanted to sign a ONE year contract, I could have gotten the phone for 325! bucks, (550-75upgrade - 50IS -100MIR). This is the deal I was going for as i am only "one year" in and only eligible for the 75 dollar upgrade but NONE of the others? I still feel like I got a little ripped off at 430, but would have been happy to pay 325. I think mine is a story of sprint getting what they wanted which is me locked up for another 2 years, and myself getting the phone I want, and they only gave up an extra 45 bucks in rebate. I'd say for all of those so worried about sprint corporate, that they did quite well on my deal. 50/month *(24mo - 9mo remaining) = 750 dollars for the company.

I hope people keep posting the great deals they have gotten so I can be jealous :)

I think the more important question is those of you getting these "decent" deals on SERO, are you having to extend your contract, and if so are you able to keep the SERO price?

I'd like to get a diamond too, but the high price of $550 will make me wait until it's cheap.

Yes, like any other grandfathered plan, sprint is letting SERO customers keep their SERO plans. All of these deals will require a contract extension. No way to get around a contract to get a discount on the device, but you will definitely get to keep your SERO plan.

Posting that qualified me as an internet gangster? wtf, that was one hell on an initiation lol. Did I really come off as hostile?? It must have been the gangster tone of my post, good catch.

I made the post in reply to something that was adding absolutely noting to this thread. In fact it was meant to take away from it. I dont have a problem with anyone posting an opinion never said I did. Bottom line I want to see a collection of deals and I'm looking forward to the direction this post is headed. I'd like to see it maintain its momentum and NOT have people become detered from posting a deal because of ah's that jump on people because they feel like it. Re: Diamond retentions deals

I managed to get just the $75.00 off and that's probably because I'm only 10 months in on a HTC Touch.

I tried 3 times. One was willing to do nothing. Another would do the $75.00 off.

They VERY much knew I had SERO and was getting a heck of deal.

I figure with SERO I could buy a phone at full price every 6 mo and sell the old one on ebay and still break even. The other 6 mo I'm still way ahead until the next phone. Probably a Touch HD next year at this time.

I may try to haggle them for the rebate. But if I don't get any more discount I'm fine. I just had to have the phone even though it's still a stupid 2.8" screen Grrrr.

LOL I think we are one of the luckier ones! I've had service from sprint since last December (~9 months now) when I got my touch (with a $250.00 MIR rebate final price was 125.00 minus 50.00 URANG credit= 75.00, but I digress!)

So after all this Diamond vs Pro thing I got excited, so I went to check my upgrade eligibility and I can actually go all the way until checkout (under my login with my current phone number) and the diamond shows up as 349.99 + 100.00 MIR (I have SERO so I qualify for the MIR as well).

Could it be that the system likes us? (I haven't even tried calling, though I'm afraid to do so since it may raise up a flag, I might try and call once the Pro is available.) BTW, the only feature the Diamond is lacking that the pro has and I actually care about is the TV-out, if it had it I would have bought the Diamond already! (don't care about the flash, sd slot, or keyboard, I actually PREFER no keyboard and a thiinner phone)
