Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

I'm starting to see Diamonds for sale on Ebay. If I were to purchase one now, would it work on Sprint, even though they have not officially released it yet? Also, any reason to wait for the rumored Raphael; is it better? Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

No, the one out right now is for GSM, and thus cannot be used on Sprint.

Re: Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

These are likely versions banded for only overseas 3g support also, even if you get one of them activated on a gsm carrier in the US, they are likely to only connect on EDGE which is approximately equivilent to the 1x mode on sprint.

Re: Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

So I won a Diamond on a website giveaway.

What do I do with it now? I have no box, instruction manual etc., all I have is the handset. Obviously it is an overseas version.

Should I just ebay it or what? It's a nice device, I like the formfactor, but I already have a paperweight.

Re: Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

I wouldn't Ebay it. I would go ahead and connect it through AT&T or T-Mobile. Eventually those network will be upgraded to handle the data for that phone.

What do you think , Yuma?

Re: Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

I thought about that, but right now I'm with Sprint SERO and don't really want to switch providers or activate another contract just to use the diamond.

The problem is that AT&T's hsdpa/hsupa runs on different bands (850 and 1900 I believe). I don't think HTC has released a Diamond or Pro yet that will run on 850. Just have to wait for the official US versions.

Re: Can Diamond be Used now on Sprint

I think you should give the Diamond to some ROM cooker. Then they can have more tools in hand to port really great ROMs for the older phones.
