Who says they don't have the Whitestone variant? There is no CDMA diamond that has passed FCC yet, so if it is close it will be the same as Verizon.

I can only assume that Sprint is waiting so late in the year to release the Diamond2/Whitestone if the above rumor is true because Verizon has an exclusivity agreement or the customized Win6.5 OS for it is not ready yet. If not, Verizon stands to benefit from new customers who want a keyboard-less Touch Pro2 as the Whitestone fits that bill. Right now, Verizon is selling the TP2 for far less than Sprint's or T-Mobile's version. As a consumer, availability and cost are important. If Sprint comes late to market behind AT&T and Verizon with a Touch Diamond2/Whitestone and at a higher price point, it stands to potentially loose customers. I have to give Sprint credit for having a great lineup of smartphones this year featuring almost all the major OS. I am starting to be stressed by so many good choices.

I also hope the rumor from halodve is true. I have been waiting for the Sprint Diamond 2 ever since I heard there was a Diamond 2. I also agree that avaliability and cost is important. Cost more so for me which is why even at a higher phone price I would save money paying it with Sprint than switching back to Verizon. Even if I didn't have to pay the ETF. I need only one of my 5 phones with unlimited data. With Sprint I now pay $10/month. With Verizon and a company discount I would still pay about $35/month. In my case when you consider I can't make phone calls with Verizon at my job location and add in the after 7:00pm free calling versus 9:00pm for Verizon I will have to wait for Sprint and their Diamond 2. If they don't release it I will have to consider one of their other WinMo phones.

By the way CESkins you joined this forum 2007 and this is your first post? Looks like both of us are slackers.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

To switch carriers over the cost of phone isn't an option for me, due to my sero plan... and since I bought the TP just a year ago, not eligible for full discount, so....

I think I will wait to see about the dia2 or wait for news on wm7 specs and possibly wait for a wm7 capable device, because I'd hate to buy a TP2 or Dia2 and find it couldn't run native WM7.

BTW, I heard from a Sprint corp rep (who had the TP2 release date before anything else i read here), Sprint won't have dia2 until first qtr of 2010.

I have heard people say that the Diamond didn't sell well for Sprint. I and many others passed and now wait on the next best thing. While the Touch Pro 2 is a nice phone, compaired to the original Touch, it is a brick! Those that still have the original touch have it because it is light weight and it DOES NOT have a keyboard. The idea of a non Windows mobile phone just doesn't appeal to me. I don't want a 1st generation Hero. Nor do I want Palm. I want something better than the touch, that will run all the software I have. Oh and I have Sero also, so I need to be able to use that. Did I mention that my wife also has a touch that she loves but is looking to upgrade?

Sprint wants to keep us as customers. They will offer a comparable phone and if not I will keep my touch until they do.
+1 to this!
Are you reading my mind? lol

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

If Sprint is not releasing the TD2/Whitestone on Oct 6 for the launch of WinMo 6.5, what phone(s) will be featured with the new OS? I suspect we will see Touch Pro2 with the new OS and possibly an updated HTC Snap. Frankly I was looking forward to the TD2/Whitestone. Time will tell as October is nearly here.

nmjones: Yes we may both be slackers but you joined later and have posted more. Guess that makes me the bigger slacker. Well 2 posts in 24 hrs is pretty good. Next post may be in 2012. . I hope the rumored 2010 arrival date for the Sprint TD2 is way off base.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

So haldove is "saying" a November release? Better than December, but I'd rather have an Oct 6th release . Like many have said, tons of free press that day. Why wait a month? If they can't get the rom stable in time, they should really look into hiring some new people...

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2

We'd hear a lot more chatter if it was comming Oct 6, no way. My guess is Nov. Which I believe was the same time frame the Diamond 1 came out.
