Rooting questions....

I just got my USCC Desire yesterday, and so far love it. Coming from a TP2, I flashed that thing all the time, but have some questions about Rooting. My main reason is to get rid of some of the apps that are on it, and stop some from auto running,so far I'm happy with the custom ROM. I read a thread where someone said that they temproot so they can still install 2.2 from USCC when it comes out. When I got mine yesterday they said a couple weeks. If I root my phone, will I still be able to install 2.2 from USCC? This is the only person I've seen talk about a temproot, so would like to hear from more people if I'm going to try it. Also, can I unroot it so to speak in case I have to send in for warranty work? I don't want to root it, then have something go wrong in a week or so and be FUBARed.

Re: Rooting questions....

To unroot the phone, you have to obtain the stock RUU and run it. The problem with that is I don't think there is one for US Cellular. I read in another forum that the new 2. 2 update is supposedly coming in RUU form. Hopefully that's true. And for temprooting, I think people do that because OTA updates don't work on rooted phones.

Can some verify that I can't get the USCC upload if I root my phone? I'm getting different answers...

No OTA for those who are rooted. But like mentioned before the planned update from USCC is going to be in RUU form, so no need for OTA updates. And when you run the RUU you will be unrooted again.
