Unhappy Outlook Sync Error on HTC Arrive / WM7 Error 85030027

My error reads "You'll need a personal certificate to connect to mail.******.com."
Error Code: 85030027

The problem is, my IT Admin sent me the certificate via gmail, I downloaded and opened it and I thought that was the fix. Unfortunately it wasn't a fix because even after a restart, it still gave me the error.

Now, I can't even sync my outlook contacts so I have no numbers/names in my phone like I was able to do with my old Mogul and ActiveSync!

One of hte reasons I purchased a WM7 device was so that there would be no compatibility issues. However, employees with iPhones and Android devices have zero problems, but I do!!!

Does anyone have a fix or workaround I can try????

Did you click on the advanced tab to input your webmail address, basically the address w/o the Http that you can log onto from your home pc vs being on your work pc?

I had to go to the advanced step and it synced right up, but again, i know all the info for my specific server, yours would differ.

Re: Outlook Sync Error on HTC Arrive / WM7 Error 85030027

I had issues trying to connect to our Exchange also, but then I found a fix. I don't remember if this was the same issue or not..... Go to Settings --> Region & Language, change to US English (Mine was already setup to US English) just reselect it, apply and restart the phone. Mine worked after restart. Hope this helps.
Here is a link to a similar problem with the cert How to install a security certificate on my Windows 7 phone for - Microsoft Answers

I know that using mail.server.com should work, have you tried using Outlook Web Access link ?

This is absolutely absurd that Microsoft would make connecting to exchange such a complex and tedious process. As of now, I have yet to connect.

What really ticks me off is that various employees with iPhones and Android devices have been able to connect!!!!

I had issues with the autoconfigure part of the exchange setup. I actually had to do the advanced setup and type in all the settings for it to configure.

Can you get to your OWA website through the phones Internet explorer? Do you know what version of Exchange your company is running ?

Yes, I can view OWA through my phone internet browser. I don't know what version of Exchange my company is running, I'll have to ask the IT Admin on Monday.

I was able to download my contacts using the Outlook connector with my old Hotmail account.

Re: Outlook Sync Error on HTC Arrive / WM7 Error 85030027

I found that if you hold down your thumb on the word "People" in your contacts, you can set how you want to have them listed. I changed it to alphabetize them by last name but display them with first name first. I edited my response after I did this. I still am upset I can't sync with my work's exchange server!

If it continues to not work u can create a hotmail account and have it setup to sync with ur work exchange account and then have that hotmail account sync to the phone. There's always a way.

Unhappy Re: Outlook Sync Error on HTC Arrive / WM7 Error 85030027

I get the same error while connecting to our district email. I am the Admin for Exchange and imported the certificate and still got the same error. I cannot figure it out. We are running Exchange 2010. I tried manually inputting the web adresses and still nothing. I sync fine to Hotmail and others but not to OWA or POP3. All Android devised with Exchange Sync and iPhones connect and sync just fine, it is just the Windows based devices that always have issues. I gave up on trying to add my work email to this phone. What a dissapointment.
