Well have you considered it could be a 6? Remember they had like 5 phones to compare to at the same time...I guess the HD7 just failed to compare to the rest.

"The Bad:

Questionable build quality
Poor viewing angles, contrast, color reproduction
Small battery for its size"

They gave it 1,230mAh battery while standard id say is 1500mah...poor viewing angles on a big screen is usually a bad thing..and from what I'm reading HD2 has a lot better build quality...

"Outdated Windows Mobile OS
Lack of compelling applications
Could be too big for some users"

See the thing is when HD2 came out.there was an overall hate with "winmo" in general because it had no decent app store and M$ pretty much stated "we are releasing wm6.5 just to buy time till 7"..also at the time 4.3" screen was not something ppl were used to...remember what makes winmo good is not its "Stock" but once its hacked by the community...also when they tested it initially it was extremely buggy and they rate it at the time based on the average consumer perspective...

This is actually one thing I disagree with engadget..when giving a rating they should give it an initial rating and then a rating after 1-2 month.

Also..for the TP2 if you look back Engadget actually liked it: (They didnt give ratings at the time though)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

I never had a touch pro, but the pro 2 was supposed to be a major upgrade.

Re: Touch pro 7 (touch pro 3 but rename) EPIC FAIL

I see people complaining about the lack of 4G and I must confess that at first blush I tend to agree with them. However, my wife has made the jump to the Epic and I'm less than impressed with 4G. When it comes to speed of downloading things on the phone, I really don't see much of a difference because of the latency with 4G turning itself on and off to conserve battery life. Even when you're tethering, I don't notice much of a difference unless you're streaming or doing BitTorrent...and 4G seems to really sap your battery much more so than 3G.
While I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a good thing that 7Pro doesn't have 4G, I don't think it's too big of a loss, especially if Sprint does what they said and doesn't charge you an extra $10 a month - they said the $10 is for 4G service, so I hope they don't renege and decide it's for any smartphone.

You are barking up the wrong tree calling Engadget Bias. Gizmodo is where the Apple Fanboy Editors thrive. Go compare some of the Gizmodo Articles verses Engadget. They make Engadget look like saints. Gizmodo took any and every entry way to take a jab at WM6.5. Hopefully they change with WP7 but they are horrid. Here is a good Example when they talked about MS's commercials knowing full well what message MS was trying to convey:

What Do You Think of Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Ads?

Windows Phone 7 Ads Show, Errr, You'll Be Using Their Phones Less...

i know how bad gizmodo can get. it seems that engadget is knitpicking things about the new WP7 phones too ZDNet gave those phones a better rating as did Cnet.

Mobilitysite unfortunately is startin to get bad too, they have hardly any articles about WP7 and when there is theyre critical. its a shame as ive been a member there since 06.

For tethering, there is an issue with the tethering apps...if you do a speed test on the phone and then on the laptop tethered you will notice a HUGE difference.

Wait..your judging the sites based on how they treat WP7?

Also cnet gave similar ratings to engadget.

So you know, when Android, iOS, winmo and all other os first came out they were sub par...platforms take time to mature..same can be said for WP7...considering the ratings it got so far I'd say they have been generous.

So Win Phone 7 is being launched on outdated hardware and someone says reviewers are biased for calling them on it? LOL

Look... WP7 is being launched on minimum requirement hardware as set up by Microsoft... WP7 is not responsible for hardware put out... Microsoft said... This is the minimum... The manufacturers decided to put the minimum requirements in their handsets.
With WP7 being a new OS and all... I can't say that I blame them.
I also don't see too many handsets out there with the dual core 1.5 or 1.3 hummingbird processors yet.
This is tru tried and tested chipset and we will surely see upgrades friom the manufacturers once the phone begins to sell. Then I along with several others will surely upgrade our phones again. And so on and so forth.
That's just how things go.

I dont know...I find it strange that all the manufacturers are relasing at the minimum..if I were a manufacturer Id make 1 phone with better features just to outstage the rest..mostly since M$ is currently limiting variety..unless..at the moment only the 1st gen snapdragon is certified for use.
