Reliable Media player with today screen plugin for WM5?

I'm looking into pocket player 3 and I'm going to install to my storage card. Is this program worth my time? I always liked TCPMP but it does not have a today screen plugin. I remember that spb pocketplus has a WM plugin but the progs somewhat of a memory hog. Anyone else have a beter route? Also. I need a current version of a program to close programs completely and not leave them running in the background. I've seen a few around but never nothing I've been happy with. I just need some advice. I'm not tring to slow my phone down with progs. I typically go with SPB mobile suite and thats just about it for main memory usage. I need help. I installe dWM6 and it just about slowed my pockec pt down to a snail and almost bricked it.

Doesn't the HTC media player have a today screen plug in?
I downloaded it, but never got around to installing it.
