Cool AA battery charger accessory COOL or CRAP?

I ordered a ten dollar double-a charger for my device and wanted to see if anyone thought this was OK or a bad idea. I recently bought an external antenna before doing research and ended up paying 80 bucks to fix my rf mod in my phone at a repair shop. Any advice on these cool little charger/power supplies?

I have one. It only really works well if you use Lithium AA batteries. It won't bring the phone up to a full charge if you wait until the battery is basically dead. It seems to work best if the phone is at 35% or more.

The best thing about it is that, unlike changing the battery, you can boost your talk time without having to soft reset.

I vote crap, only because of the fact that for the price of one you can almost get an additional PPC-6700/6800 battery on eBay. I'd rather have the additional battery which will give me an extra day of talk time.

and the batteries are small enough that one will fit in your wallet or jacket pocket. i always carry a spare. and if im away for a couple of days i also carry a USB cable ( i can always find a pc, playstation 3 or other device to jack on to ) so i agree "cool idea" not so much

I actually have a spare stock battery in which gets swapped on a daily basis, but I have to take off my cool seidio case, risking breaking off those little grabber tabs it uses to stay on my phone. I really wanted to see if anyone had any or knew of any damaging aspects to the phone by using one of these babies.

As I mentioned, the biggest advantage is that you can hook up the AA charger in mid-conversation. You can't do that with the internal battery.

I vote crap. I got one, and it didn't even fill my phone up one time.

If you need something for a boost while charging, for $40 you can get an APC mobile power pack which chan charge your phone a couple times from dead. Much better.

There's also a Tekkeon product which has double the charge of the APC now. Both are better options than the AA's.

I used 2600 mah rechargable nimh batteries, by the way.

I bought one and it did nothing. New batteries, still nada. I use a 'fat' battery all the time, so keep the original battery around and charged as a backup when traveling. I also travel with both a USB cable and an iGo...
