No ActiveSync Problems, no lockups, lots o' battery!
I have fallen in love with my 6700 again...
Like many, I'd been having the ActiveSync start up on its own, turning on the light, draining battery, etc. After some research, there was the "create a false server" idea as well as the suggestion to simply turn off the automatic time update with the phone provider's network (I have Verizon). I chose the latter. For the last 3 days, the ONLY time ActiveSync has turned on by itself was when I manually updated the clock using either Tweaks2k2 or the "update now" function in the phone section to connect to Verizon. ActiveSync came on following both updates, I closed it via HandySwitcher, and eureka--no more AS problems. The huge benefit is that the battery seems to really be lasting a lot longer. Now many will want me to quantify that, but unfortunately, my data is only anecdotal; however, for example, it's now early afternoon and my battery still has 80% juice left. Previously, I'd either be charging or swapping it right about now... So the bottom line seems to be that, for whatever reason, time clock updates launch AS; not doing this (or manually doing it significantly less often--I haven't noticed any clock issues, either, btw), does not... |

There's a method whereby you create an activesync connection to a server you just make up...directions look like this:
This is an updated method for newer 3.x ROM's: Create fake server under AS (1.1.1.1) set pw, set user name. These can be random. After it's done, set the schedule to manual. Start your phone app, go to MENU>>SERVICES>>TIME SYNCRONIZATION Click GET SETTINGS UNCHECK Time syncronize with mobile network automatically If the above is checked, AS will come on everytime the phone syncs with your providor.. Go back to AS setup, delete the exchange server you created End task on AS I've read reports where it worked like a champ, and others that said it didn't do anything...so, as one who knows just enough to be dangerous, I thought I'd try the simple method first. You go into the phone settings, select services tab; scroll down the list and click on time synchronization; click get settings; uncheck the box that says sync automatically...then "ok" yourself and you're done. you can go in and manually force a time sync at any time; this will then cause another uncommanded activesync, but you can just go into running programs and shut it down...and it will STAY shut down |
