ok, my 6700 wants to call people without me

starting yesterday (that I noticed) my XV6700 randomly will start dialing the last number in the call history.

I was watching it, it would beep, the phone app would open with full keyboard, then it would dial.... I would hang up shut the phone off, it would do it again...
soft reset didn't change anything, hard reset didn't fix it...

I'm wondering if this doesn't have anything to do with the issues I have with headphone jack.. the phone will sometimes act like the headphones are still plugged in when they aren't... and possibly it is thinking someone is hitting the dial button that some earpieces have....

no matter what, this is getting really annoying.
Anyone have any feedback on this?

I've had this happen with my Sprint phone. I spoke with tech support who referred me to the insurance company to get my phone replaced. It would annoy all my friends to have my phone calling them during the night while I was sleeping. Hope this helps.

I have only had my 6700 since June, would like to think this is covered under warranty, especially since I don't have the insurance.

reading verizons policy, since it is within a year of purchasing it, they will repair/replace. I'm going to check with the local store sunday if they are open, monday after work for sure.

I just flashed it back to the OEM rom, so it is just like it was the day I bought it, and sure enough, it tried to dial out on me.

I had that same problem with the 6700 constantly...

It seemed to be caused by a faulty send button. Its got a consistent amount of pressure being applied to it (and it doesn't take much), so it dials out a lot.

I fixed mine by loosening the tension on the send key with the tip of a flathead mini screw driver.

But really, it will do it again... all three 6700s I've had, it doesn't take much pressure for it to dial out... and so my friends coined the term "pocket call" in regards to getting calls from me at weird hours of the night or while in my pocket.

Having the keylock on worked fine for me and I just resigned to remembering to use it all the time.

Careful with bringing in your 6700 though... if they think that you're trying to jip them out of a Mogul, they'll give you a busted refurb 6700 that will have more problems than you know.

I had 2 refurbs in the span on 2 weeks... now this one is going back on Monday when I get the Mogul that Asurion is replacing my 6700 with.

where did you get the OEM ROM flash? Also, which verizon wm6 did you use: verizon or verizon with bootloader 1.02?

I got the OEM rom off of the UTstarcom site.
and I used helmi's WM6 build.

I went into the local shop today, the said it was a software bug, told me I had to call their 800# to get a replacement, and assured me it would be a new one, not a refurb... I call the 800# and they assure me I have no choice but a refurb... but I will have it by wednesday.
