Angry Cannot answer incoming calls (phone hangs up)

I have had about five different ROM's loaded on this phone (included the 2.5 crap that it started with) trying to solve this issue - to no avail.

I'm not sure if this phone is crap, the Mobile OS is crap, or the two combined make up one big steaming pile of crap.

Thanks to the efforts of the folks here, this phone is at least *usable* as I have put a 3.5 ROM on it which gives it a lot of lost speed back, and it works relatively well as a little PC thing, but still not as a phone (the one thing I need it for).

I just CANNOT answer incoming calls! It's driving me nuts. The phone rings, I hit the green button, and the Notification just goes away. If I click the "Answer" on the Notification pop-up the same thing happens. I soft reset the phone several times a day, thinking that maybe I can fix it that way ... but it doesn't really seem to have any effect. This is really bad when I am "on call" and I have someone in a panic, who is sent to my voicemail as if I don't give a crap.

My boss has no plans of buying me a new phone, and while I guess I could swap this out under warranty - I'm not really convinced that this is a hardware problem.

Anyone else had this issue? We have about five more of these floating around the office and nobody really seems to have this issue but me. Then again, most of these folks gave up using this phone and use their personal ones instead.

Advice is appreciated!

This isn't the first time that we've seen a problem like this. Others have complained of similar problems before and solutions were offered. It would have been your worthwhile to search, but I can see that an issue like this might be harder to search

To address your concern: If you are absolutely sure it's not a hardware issue then the first thing I would do is make sure that I'm actually getting good reception in the area. If that's not the problem then you are probably suffering from a delayed ringer response, an issue with some of the CDMA carriers. To test this call your number from another phone line and see how many rings it takes for the notification to appear on your screen. If it takes more than 3 rings then what's happening is the caller is being sent to voicemail before you have the chance to answer. If this is in fact occurring then you need to follow the directions in this thread: http://ppc6700users.com/forums/viewt...14c13065bb6e11

If that's not the case, then make sure that your ringtone(s) are on main storage. Also do you have any third party programs installed that may be interferring with one another?

I tried. The search function on these forums does not work very well. It won't index shorter words (for obvious indexing reasons I'm sure).

With the exception of a few "dark corners", I always have four bars. This happened to me quite a bit over the weekend when I always had good signal.

I could see this being a problem in other areas. Like, when I call my own phone it may ring two or three times before my phone starts ringing. But it's me trying to answer the phone that makes the call *stop* dead in it's tracks. It happens almost every time I answer the phone, and the timing could not be that perfect every time.

Well, now that you mention it the ring tone I was using was on my storage card. But, I have only had that for a few weeks, and this problem started when I got the phone (a few months ago now). I have switched to using the default ringer, on the Device to see if that clears anything up.

Nothing. In fact, I have reset my phone (hard-reset) so many times that I dont even bother installing my Apps back onto it any more. Too time consuming. In fact, I think I will give up trying to get my Outlook mail pushed to it, just to see if that makes this stop. More than anything, I need a phone that I can answer.

It's looking like I am going to have to get my own phone, and my own contract - to escape this damned thing. And that sucks!!

Thanks for your advice man!

This happened to me if I had Voice Command set to announce incoming calls even on bluetooth with certain bluetooth headsets that didn't support it. Try disabling the voice announce if you are using it....

Well you know I had been using Voice Command, but I stopped installing it sometime back to rule it out as a problem. I have never used the call announcer though - so not sure if that was having any effect.

I have probably been fighting a combo of problems! I moved to using a default ringer, and last night I received several calls and didn't hang up on a single one of them!! I hope it continues to work!
