Auto-disconnect after checking e-mail on 6700

Here is my dilemma:

I'm currently on a cellular plan that gives me unlimited data (EvDO/1xRTT), however, it uses my "ANYTIME" minutes while the phone is connected.

I'm seeking out an option which would allow my PPC-6700 to connect via EvDO/1xRTT once an hour to check my e-mail and then automatically, like clockwork, disconnect until it is needed once again (the next hour).

Does a program like this exist or is there a way of achiving the same results with the software that is already pre-loaded? Obviously this problem doesn't pertain while I'm connected via wifi.

There is an option in PhoneAlarm to disconnect after so many minutes, but it would seem a bit overkill for what you're looking for.
