Dialer Desires

My biggest frustration with the phone dialer is lack of support for extensions. What I would like, is that if a phone number has an extension specified (e.g. 800-555-1212 x123), then after dialing, a button (hard or soft) would automatically be assigned to send the extenion (touch tones).

These days human receptionists are an endangered species, so I am often needing to type in extensions on the keypad. This is especially problematic while driving; I can hands-free voice dial, but I then have to focus on the keypad to enter an extension. There is also the additional problem of having to know the extension to type it in!

Are there replacment dialers that address this issue? Does MS Voice Commander 1.6 address the issue?

How to automatically dial extensions and voicemail PIN

you can edit phone numbers in your contacts to auto-dial extensions. Just place a *p* where you need a pause. For example, instead of 8005551212x123 set the number up as 8005551212p123 or 8005551212pp123. The *p*'s will insert a two second pause for each, allowing you to properly queue an automated system to redirect your call. This also works great for automating voicemail access via PIN.

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but it addresses the extension-dialing issue.

The p's work great, been using that for some time now!

What I really want fixed is to have my default area code prepended if I only dial 7 digits.

(Many of my calls will never be in my contacts.)

There is something different in the WM6 from helmi, phone-menu-options-services-plus code dialing...

I have tried a few things there and come up dry, any help?

look in contacts\Menu\Options\ and change the area code to your local. I think (425) is the default

Unhappy

Please, re-read my post.
Most of my calls will NEVER be in my contacts.

If I was entering every person I called into my contacts, then your suggestion would be perfect, sadly it's not.
