yes, u can delete whatever carrier specific cabs are in it, you will no longer need them since the custom roms coming out already have those files included. I have installed several programs to ext rom with no issue

SWEET! if there's one thing that sucks about the apache its the crap amount of space in main memory. Adding ext rom to main memory makes a big difference. please, someone confirm that the rom packages include all the required cabs etc in them and thus you don't need the ext rom files. |

it says in the instructions when you isntall WM6 NOT to let the custom roms run, and thats what is in there. I just didn't know if htey had to stay in there....

One drawback to leaving the extended ROM unlocked will become apparent if you store your email attachments on the storage card. Instead of storing them on the storage card, the phone will now store them in what used to be the extended ROM. You will quickly run out of space.
You can hide the extended ROM to regain that functionality. To do so, open your favorite registry editor, change the following value from 0 to 1, save the changes, and soft reset: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001

If you unhide it, delete the carrier-specific cabs, install programs to it, then RE-HIDE it, will the programs still run normally? Basically can you run programs installed in the hidden ROM?
