what you install in the rom doesn't impact your storage memory, which is used to install programs. Basically u can add whatever you want and whatever space is left for ROM files and OEM's will be wasted.

There are, however, some caveats to cramming as much as you can in the ROM:
1. Not all programs are available as OEM's...yet 2. Some may not perform/behave normally and may conflict with other installed programs 3. Some people report slower performance with more programs in the ROM 4. You can't really just update programs installed in the ROM you have to install them all over again 5. You can't remove/delete programs installed in ROM, unless you cook up another ROM and reflash. Having said that though it's nice to be able to include some of the larger programs in the ROM. I for example, prefer to include TomTom as a part of the ROM instead of installing separately...saves me a boatload of space I can use for other programs. |

You can scrimp on page pool and recover 1 or 2 MB of program storage (but you'll likely experience problems if you do)
You left off: 6) Some OEMs cost you just as much program memory as the non-OEM version.

How much space exactly is available for the ROM to use?
I wish I could have an Opera OEM instead of sticking Opera in my extrom... |

Not an easy question to answer. The ROM is compressed, so what you really want to know is how much stuff can be crammed into it before compression - and that's about 80+MB, including the core Windows stuff. YMMV.

Hmmm... I might try making an Opera OEM... I use Opera more than anything else on my PPC so it would be a HUGE benefit for me.

I don't know exactly, but I've have found in the past that it doesn't work exactly like memory in the traditional sense. You can end up cramming a little more than actually available, but if you go over and you're building the rom you'll get this weird error and when you hard reset and turn the phone on, the screen will look all weird. Opera ROM would be great, though....tough to make, but great!
