Benefit of Storage Card? Speed issues....

Hi... someone please help me. I dont really save that much stuff on my PPC, but it tends to run slow. I purchased a 1 gig storage card today as I still had the dummy card in.

What can I do with it to speed up my 6700? Also, the link in the n00b post to the registry hacks is dead and I just want to know the hacks to increase speed.

Also, I dont know how to clear my cache, as Im sure thats probly an issue too.

Any help is mucho appreciated.

THANKS!

A storage card is unlikely to increase the basic speed of your phone's operation. In fact, many people have learned from experience that demanding much more than simple file storage from your card can quickly lead to unstable operation, especially on the stock roms.

For clearing the ie cache and many other maintenance activities, look for a small (paid) application called Memaid. You can download the fully-functioning trial and see about cleaning up your phone.

Agreed, MemMaid is great, I have v1.72 although I think someone has said v2.0 is out.

Also, try these (since you are asking about reg edtis)

Speed up switching between Portrait & Landscape Modes
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
Change limit from 8192 to 16384 I actually used 16384 instead, as it would use less memory

Disable start menu animation
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu Change "AniType" to 0

HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS
Change the CacheSize key from 0 to 8192
it seems to have sped up my ppc.

Another CACHE tweak
Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\ f sreplxfilt\ReplStoreCacheSize" and change/ensure value is "8192"

most of those regedits were already changed in WM6.... still pretty slow.

and... since im not storing much on my phone, and you dont think the storage card will help with speed, should i just return it?

Just a thought...you could always try the pagepool mod. Mine's set to 12 and my phone runs just fine for me Purty dern fast!

Pagepool mod is a tweak that allows you to change the amount of storage memory allocated to program memory effectively increasing your pocketpc's performance. (Application loading times, responsiveness while application is running, etc.)

Here's the thread pertaining to it as well as benchmarks, links, and other important information.
