if you "right click" or press and hold, on the file, you should get an option to "set as ringtone" or in wm6, you can library browse though the audio files, hit the menu button with the file selected, and go to "set as ringtone". Also you can go to alerts in the settings, and set specific files which are in your ringtones folder to be synonymous with specific events, such as new email, or new phone call.

The problem in the OP seems to be varying the length of the vibration. I didn't think this was possible (not in WM5), or if it was possible was not very flexible. If you use the standard settings applet to set your phone to vibrate for any particular event/alarm, regardless of the characteristics of the ringtone selected, the vibration always seems to be just a standard 3-second pulse.
I do remember seeing a registry entry specifying the pulse-pause strings for these, but I never followed up since it seemed to complicated for everyday use. |
