Helmi WM6 VOIP / Internet Calling
First - thanks to Helmi for this great ROM. I have been running it since Friday and so far no major problems to report. This is truly the work of a genius.
I have been trying to get the WM6 Internet Calling (VOIP) functionality working with this ROM. I have seen a couple of questions in the main bugs/patches thread but no answers as of yet. As this is an important new possibility provided by the WM6 OS I figured its worth a thread of its own. It seems that Internet Calling isn't included by default in the ROM. However, the BlueAngel release of 5.2.1620 (build 18125.0.4.2) is supplied with a companion CABS file, one of which is a VOIP.CAB created by xplode - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ip#post1472092 I tried installing this CAB to the Apache and soft-resetting, but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be compatible. The required files are installed to Windows directory (rtc.dll, voipphonecanvas.dll, ipdialplan.xml, dnsapi.dll) as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950 and I can run a VoIP setup application to configure the SIP settings, but I never see the Internet Calling today plugin onscreen although it's offered in the Today items list configuration page. I examined the DLL files provided by the xplode CAB and it looks like they are signed with SDK Test Certificates, so my next step was to install the Test SDK CAB provided with the WM5 Home Plugin. This didn't fix the problem. Has anyone managed to get this feature working? Last edited by quite98; 09-02-2007 at 08:41 PM. |

I heard of some people with voip service open credentials programmed into sjphone over wifi worked like a charm, both incoming and outgoing calls... over 3g not soo good, too much latency...
I still haven't toiled with it myself... good luck. |

i tried that sjphone and its ok... but i would rather have the native functionality that is supposed to be part of WM6. the way it is supposed to work is... when your credentials are put into the VOIP SETUP, it checks availability when in WiFi. When the connection is established, your phone's dialer becomes your voip dialer. So I would say that voip is clearly not working in this build. i challenge someone to show otherwise.
