Bell Users…I have a working WM6…..YES, it does work!!!

Hey, I love my PPC6700 and I love upgrading it any chance I can. I have played with WM6 on newer phones and was thrilled to see Helmi’s release.

HOWEVER, I seemed to have a ROM that just wasn’t compatible. It appears that Bell Canada likes to do everything in their powers to make things hard. The Bell ROM 2.0.4 seems to be a big problem, I guess it is just different enough to not work. I spent many many many hours. ( I don’t want to tell you how many because you would thing I was nuts).

Eventually, I gave up….until today!!

Somehow, I was lucky enough to have the help of one of the senior members – Naigaboy. I can’t begin to tell you how nice it was to find someone so willing to help me get my phone up and running. Maybe he could tell I was going nuts or maybe he just wanted to help. Whatever the reason, he basically gave up the better part of his morning and afternoon to help a fellow PPC6700 users. This says a lot about the kind of people in this community. I know it is a hobby, I know it is fun but it is also a thankless job so I just want to say a special thanks to everyone who makes this stuff possible.

I was also lucky enough to chat with Helmi yesterday, he also guided me along the way. I have to tell you, as a newbie, I was always too scared to ever ask these guys to help….I always figured that they were bored with having to deal with these basic issues and only dealt with the experts..I could not be more wrong.

Well, WM6 is great…I love it and although my Bell ROM is now working, I don’t want to give a step by step summary because I just don’t have the skills to support it or even understand it. The concept is simple, put on a new boatloader...an older one. The rest involves....magic. I would recommend that you just give a detailed description of your problems in a forum posting or head over to a chat room. Most important, be patient….this stuff does work and if it doesn’t, someone will find a way…hey they gave us WM6 on our PPC6700, didn’t they!!!
